Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Coach Rod:  The Bear above is coming to your house via UPS.  It is for you wife as an olive branch. Mal’s gotcha covered on the homefront.  Mal knows to keep it quiet so that Momma don’t get pissed again.

Mal Moore is or was in New York.   He may have met with Rich Rodriguez and/or Jim Grobe or he may not have met with them.

Rodriguez, who grew angry with constant questions about his interest in the Alabama job before his game Saturday, released a statement instead of addressing the media when it was announced that his Mountaineers would play Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl. The statement addressed only the bowl game.

TUSCALOOSA – Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban on Sunday again denied interest in the vacant head football coaching position at the University of Alabama.

And for the first time, a source familiar with the search from Alabama’s side said the university has been told that Saban does not want to be a candidate, and that Alabama no longer considers him one.

Now the search to replace the recently fired Mike Shula focuses on West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez and Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe, according to two sources close to the search.
