Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Giving Houston Nutt a raise through this Mustain/Malzahn scandal and  the 3 game losing streak at the end of the season turmoil would be like feeding your dog ex-lax before you mow the lawn.

Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles still intends to give coach Houston Nutt a pay raise, despite displeasure among some 50-60 fans (last week’s protest) regarding the direction of the football program. Some believe that in light of the Malzahn, Mustain-Campbell, Nutt debacle of the last two weeks that under present circumstances, Broyles announcing a payraise at this time shows poor judgement and plays in favor of those against him and Nutt. Besides, all of the Pro-Nutt newspaper ads cost a lot of money.

IN 10 months all of this will be forgotten. In 8 months Wal-Mart Stadium will be full and the state will be calling the Hogs and hold a group hug with Nutt and Broyles at the 50 yard line.
