Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Last night while watching the so-called 3rd and5th best teams in the country, it hit me. College football is officially a damn joke. I watched West Virginia fumble and stumble around like a team that had no business sniffing the top 25 rankings. I saw Louisville play some of the most ridiculous defense I have ever seen in my life, much less in a “top ten” matchup.

Let’s be honest here. With any kind of schedule, both of these teams already have 3 losses and are duking it out for that coveted Liberty Bowl invitation. College football and the BCS are completely criminal in the way they rob from the rich to give to the poor. There are four teams in the SEC that would have beaten either of those lightweights last night. You simply cannot compare the overall athleticism between no’s 3 and 5 (snicker snicker) and the Tennessee’s, Florida’s, and Auburn’s of the college football world.

We are already being primed by ESPN for the heavyweight battle of the century next Saturday night. That’s right, Louisville vs Rutgers. You just don’t get any bigger than that. Seriously, I don’t know about you but I no longer care if my team gets a BCS birth or not. I don’t care if we ever win another BCS Championship. The way the BCS gives as much credibility to teams like Rutgers, Boise St., Louisville, etc. as it does to teams that play in the ACC, SEC, Pac-10, and Big-10……………it’s absolutely criminal and it is a damn joke and everybody knows it.

So, Louisville………while you are enjoying the beatdown from Ohio State in the BCS Championship game please remember that the rest of the world knew all along that you had no business being in the game in the first place.

Until college football gets a playoff, it is nothing but a damn joke.

  1. yea that bumbling stumbling WVa team cracked under the pressure. Tooo bad they weren’t lined up against the best the SEC has to offer.

Regardless of ones opinion – having flashbacks of the Mountaineers doing their best impression of a prison break outta Angola vs UGa. Of course one could have the opinion UGa, didn’t have the athletism in 2005 that they do in 2006..

    Why not?

  2. For one, West Virginia has no athletes on D. None.

  3. And yet… somehow, they beat the reigning SEC champion. Personally I think the SEC is a much deeper conference, but the Big East is hardly the total cream puff you make it out to be. Give them a couple years to regain their footing.

  4. It’s November and Rutgers is undefeated. I rest my case.

Remember, it’s not like UGA ran all over the SEC last year. They had 2 conference losses. LSU choked in the SEC championship game.

“but the Big East is hardly the total cream puff you make it out to be. Give them a couple years to regain their footing”

Dude, this is the best the Big East has ever been. And it’s a two team league.

  5. “Dude, this is the best the Big East has ever been. And it’s a two team league.”

Exactly, so give it some time. Considering that it lost 3 out of its 5 best teams 2 years ago, its not doing so bad. If the SEC lost Auburn, LSU, and Florida it wouldn’t be looking so good right now either.

  6. Truth, nothing but truth from this post. I have something similar over at my site. I went farher and predicted my grandma could run for 100 against Louisville, and throw for 100 against WV. There jokes, there good teams but there conference is a joke and has no business in the BCS.

  7. I watched the game -where was the D. Thought Louisville was better on D. None of this matters Buckeyes say -” resistance is futile”, I would take money that Ohio could give 3 or 4 teams in NFL a good game.Excluding Ohio state coming down with the PLAGUE, I do not see any body that can beat them –please comment . I’m a Florida boy and have not watched alot of NCAA ball other than SEC. I watrched alot of MIami , FSU and all Florida games none of them can compete with Ohio “run over your ass” state. The grumbling in the south is Bobby better pack , but he can take his time, If FSU does same thing next year it could get ugly.

  8. If I could get a copy of the Colin Cowherd Transcript from yesterday’s show, he just rapes the Big East Conference and WVU. He shows a little love for Louisville, but it was best described as “tough love”

  9. btearle, that should tell you how programs view the Big East. Your 3 best (historically) teams jumped ship to the ACC. And the ACC is a crap football conference.

  10. Boise State to join the Big East?
