Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

We still think WVU (former?) Coach Rich Rodriguez is sick of Colin Cowherd’s shit. Here is a post earlier this week that discusses Rodriguez’s almost daily verbal ass whipping for Cowherd. Complete with Podcasts of the tirades. Link

MORGANTOWN — It has been a busy week full of rumors and one big question: Is West Virginia University head football coach Rich Rodriguez leaving for the University of Alabama after Saturday night’s game with Rutgers?

Rodriguez had an answer Friday. The coach called Metronews’ “Statewide Sportsline” call-in radio show and dismissed the notion that he was leaving, adding that he would be the coach at West Virginia next year. (Assuming that all residents of West Viriginia actually have electricity and would have been able to hear Rodriguez)

Earlier Friday, a source familiar with the University of Alabama’s search for a new football coach confirmed the school’s plan to offer the position to Rodriguez.

A source familiar with the University Alabama’s search for a new football coach has confirmed the school’s plan to offer the position to West Virginia University coach Rich Rodriguez. While some close to the situation have said Rodriguez will be named the next coach of the Crimson Tide on Saturday night after WVU’s home game with Rutgers, others have speculated he will assume coaching responsibilities at the storied Southeastern Conference school early next week.

From ESPN Chat earlier today

keith west virginia: Hey Bruce Do you think Rich Rodriguez will leave West Virginia for Alabama?

SportsNation Bruce Feldman: I doubt it since the timing is a bit odd in that with Slaton and White being juniors in ’07 and L’ville coming to Morgantown he has a good shot at a title next year. But his wife does like small towns and that is a big job. WVU has to really step up and pay him and pay his assistant coaches this winter.
