Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Things are really getting weird in Arkansas. With Frank Broyles rumored to be moving to Tulsa to be closer to Gus Malzahn and his VHS/Beta Tape era Hurry Up – No Huddle Offense, this cartoon from an Arkansas Newspaper pops up that shows Houston Nutt and Frank Broyles kissing. I included the monologue from the Ballad of Ricky Bobby to help the red necks work their way through this without going all Tim Hardaway.
Jean: Monsieur “Booby”, by defeating me today, you have set me free. And for that, I thank you. [He offers his hand to Ricky]
Ricky: [shoving Girard’s hand away] I will never shake your hand. Ever. But I will give you this…[he passionately kisses Girard]
Jean: Sir…you taste…of America.
Ricky: Thank you. [Girard leans in for another kiss] Noooo…once was good. Once was good.

  1. Hey, if JoePa is still coaching at 80, why not let Broyles take another spin on the sidelines?
