Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Sammy Sosa‘s 600th homer resembled so many that came before — except this time the Chicago Cubs were on the other side.

Playing for the Texas Rangers after a year out of baseball, Sosa became the fifth member of the 600-homer club Wednesday night when he connected against his former team [SI].

Does this get him in the Hall of Fame?

  • 5th player ever to hit 600 Homers
  • He and Mark McGuire saved Baseball’s image in the pursuit of Maris’ single season homer run record
  • He weighed 160 pounds soaking wet when he hit the majors in 1989
  • Sosa is a nicer guy than Barry Bonds
  • How many of those were hit with a bat full of Super balls™©® etc.??
  • If elected to the  HOF, will he need an interpreter like he did when he testified before Congress?

Here is a link to the game recap and video  [espn]

  1. Unless baseball performs a full, through investigation of all of the power hitters of the late 1980’s – 2000’s, I think we’ll see several players with big numbers not get into the HOF. Sosa, McGwire, Bonds, and Canseco are 3 that may not ever get in.

Right or wrong, I don’t know. They deceived us all.

  2. I SURE HOPE BONDS DOESN’T HIT 755 BeCAUSE HE DOESN’T Deserve it.
