Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

While other schools might have a better winning percentage in bowl games, 75 percent of their opponents have been non-BCS teams in bowl games. WVU’s bowl schedule has always been better than other Big East teams. WVU is usually matched against very good teams and upgraded to good to outstanding bowls because of our superior traveling fan base. Frankly, as much as I love the rest of the other teams in the Big East, my Eers are clearly the class of the Conference.

Just remember: For starters, WVU or Louisville could easily win the ACC and Big 12, with absolutely zero chance of losing either conference. Either team would be a sure-lock in the PAC-10 to make it to a BCS bowl game with nothing less than a 11-1 record and be just an ‘upset’ away from beating USC and winning the conference outright. Right behind WVU and Louisville in the Big East wheelhouse are South Florida and Rutgers who are the equals (if not one step above) of:

  • Clemson/Georgia Tech of the ACC;
  • or Missouri/A&M of the Big 12;
  • or Oregon State/UCLA of the Pac-10,
  • or Purdue/Penn State of the Big 10,
  • or Arkansas/Georgia of the SEC

That’s half the league right there… and there’s a decent chance Cincinnati and Pitt aren’t trailing too far behind.Anyway back to my Eers Bowl record (GATA!!!) read it and weep SEC Homers. Eer football ‘Til death do us part”.

1. WVU has played ONLY BCS Teams since the BCS started in the 90’s.
2. WVU has NEVER LOST to an UNRANKED MIDMAJOR. Utah was ranked #14 when they beat WVU.

  1. That’s an excellent picture. Love that panoramic view.

  2. I’ll bite. WVU is 3-11 in bowl games over the last 20 years. Thats pitiful. Even worse considering the powerhouse bowls such as the Music City, Continental Tire, Insight and Carquest bowls thrown in there.

Their winning percentage over several time frames, last 20 years, 10 years, since 2000, generally places them in the 20-30 range. Respectable, but not great.

Since 2000, these ACC/Big 12 teams rank higher in winning percentage while playing in tougher conferences: Nebraska(20), FSU(18), Va Tech(10), Miami(4), Oklahoma(3), Texas(2). That’s three from each conference. This makes the best Big East team and also-ran in a real conference.

  3. Why is AngryEer bragging about this?

  4. You and your “facts” can kiss my ass. The fact is that we travel well and the bowls love us. Why would I post the bowl record?

Anyone that knows anything about football knows that myEers would be confeerence champs in any conference….

  5. LL

Your “crush” on the Big East is blatently obvious

  6. LL

Be happy that Florida doesn’t meet my Eers on the Gridiron

  7. azmadoc: Provides facts

    AngryEer: Provides speculation and opinion

  8. The SEC: Kings of College Football

The Big East: Kings of Thursday Night Football on ESPN

  9. 2nd Highest rated game ever WVU-UL….Dope smoker

  10. If having the 2nd ever highest rated game is the crowning jewel for WVU, then Washington and Jefferson university’s thumping of WVU to the score of 72-0 is certainly theirs. Let me guess bias refs and it was a “home game”.

  11. I understand how someone living in West Virginia with nothing more to do than stare at a coal mine and think about a “bright” future of digging for resources could be absorbed by a burrito eating coach and a second rate quarterback. When the big east decides to remove the flags from their hips and strap on some pads I will be glad to listen to this garbage. Until then please do not post anymore pathetic bowl records from a second rate school in a flag football conference.

  12. They do have a Kickass dance squad, though

  13. Clicky on my handle for the dance squad vid

  14. Oh my God I might be emotionally scarred after viewing that. 🙂

  15. “2nd Highest rated game ever WVU-UL”

That’s because there was NO OTHER COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME ON TV, meth mouth!

  16. LL

    You are an ugly person

  17. That kid in the video is a hero. He is a fine articulate son of West Virginia, who supports my Eers (til death do us part). Why you SEC turds always make fun of people that don’t smoke dope? It is baffling

  18. Whoa! Zing! Look out for that guy(AngryEer)! He’s on fire today!

  19. I played NCAA Football 360 last night. I pitted my Eers against the vaunted Gators. I played as Florida just to make it fair, final score WVU (#1) 45 Florida 13. I don’t think that the game can capture Tebow soiling himself as my 3-3-5 D bust his ass over and over…

  20. Are you sure the kid in the video doesn’t smoke dope? Because looking at him…you can tell he’s had more than his share munchie attacks.

  21. People in west virginia don’t smoke dope because it is against the law. Plus we are God-fearing people that go to church aand listen to what the Good Book says .

If that kid smokes dope, it is likely that he is the product of a SEC State and attending my school

  22. Really? Umm I did some research and In the last 10 years, the number of residental people locked in West Virginia’s prisons more than doubled. Between 1994 and 2004, the state’s prison population rose from 2,392 to 5,032, an increase of 110%. (That’s a whole lot of couch burners there.)
West Virginia had the highest incarceration growth rate in the entire United States (9.3% a year). Since 1990, West Virginia has spent well over $100 million just to build new prisons. The amount spent each year on the Division of Corrections has almost tripled in the last ten years.
While moonshine money for corrections have risen dramatically, social service programs and education have been shortchanged. The state has increased spending on prisons five times faster than it has on higher education.

Bottem Line…WVU football help shape and produce PacMan Jones and Chris Henry for a reason.

  23. Good post, Thomas!

AngryEer is living in a fantasy land filled with Video Game victories, marmalade skies and gumdrop forests! Weeeeeeeee!

  24. I said dope, not meth labs

  25. I OWN THE LARK Avatar
    I OWN THE LARK

THIS IS NOTHING BUT SPAM ATTACK!

  26. So are you saying that WVU is the only team to play such a schedule of bowls since the BCS era began???
