It seeks to preserve computer files of Teresa Prewett, the Nutt friend whose angry e-mails helped triggered this controversy; Danny Nutt, and Sherry Darby, a friend of the Nutts and state employee whose e-mail the plaintiffs think supports their efforts. An FOI of Darby’s work e-mail (shades of Ron Quillin — don’t you bet some legislator is itching to close public e-mails next legislative session?) has opened a whole new window to this sordid mess.
The people at NC State, Alabama, and Miami probably knew enough to understand Nutt was damaged goods not worthy of leading a football program. He had been rumored to leave Arkansas for any of those schools last off-season.
At one point, he could’ve gotten on a plane to coach at one of the Top 5 programs in the United States over the last 40 years. Now, he couldn’t even get a job to be head coach at Nebraska-Omaha.
He’s got to hold on to this because it is all he’s ever going to get. The problem for him is the surrogates he’s chosen to do his dirty work. Like him, they aren’t the most intelligent people you’ll ever run into.
The smoking gun is out there. Nutt and his Posse aren’t smart enough to clean up everything.
Bottom line, though…without the FOI request, the cover up would have worked completely.
The emails at the end of the filing make my head swim. Here is what I took away from it, and I will re-read this again:
(1) Houston really wanted the Alabama job, and was going to take it immediately if offered — not happy at Arkansas, as he cannot recruit enough depth, one injury can ruin your season
(2) They were worried about the home computers being taken and examined — including Danny’s. Why would it matter to them, if Danny’s was taken — if there was nothing sinister going on
(3) They watch Hog message boards — they knew about Dana being in town, and the get together at Hutch’s — planned on being there to take pictures with their phone
(4) Dianna sat in her parked car, no far from the protest outside of the BAC — and sent e-mails messages to them about what was happenng
(5) They are not planning on giving certain e-mails, and they are going to say that they contained medical information about Danny and Mama Nutt
