It sure did. Every trailer park housewife in the luvuly state of Alabama jumped in her Ford Tempo GL and hit the gravel road in search of, as Shane Cook said,”…the second coming of Bear Bryant.”
The poor Crimson Tide fan. A strange breed these days. Even Notre Dame fans can’t match the sheer insanity of the Tiders. At least when Notre Dame was horrible they didn’t go around bragging how they were going to win sometime in the near future. The poor Crimson Tide fans. They don’t seem to realize that these aren’t the times of old. Alabama isn’t even the best program in the state anymore. Auburn has the deed to Alabama’s football program locked away safely. Do they not realize that The Third Saturday in October has become The Annual Bama Beatdown Bash? The poor Crimson Tide Fan. Their pain is obvious. Take the 2005 6-3 Tennessee loss, for example. I have never seen a crowd that excited in my life. The, as I call it, Most Classless Cheer in Sports (Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, WTF?), was deafening after that game. In contrast, the 2006 edition of The Annual Bama Beatdown Bash was rather boring until the last quarter of the game, at least the crowd was. The Big Orange faithful viewed the 2005 Bama victory as a Rhino would view a mosquito bite. The rivalry is still great, but not what it once was. Can Saban return Bama to glory? I have my doubts. Still, as Shane Cook says,””We’re Alabama. We always think we’re going to be better than you. The last 10 years, that wasn’t Alabama football. It’s been a comedian’s guide to Alabama football.” Yes, Shane. It has been rather comical.
Saban’s arrival produces a Tidal Wave?

I read this article this morning and thought it was really bizarre. I’m not particularly sure why the Herald would send their sports writer to Tuscaloosa to do that story, a story that makes little mention of the Dolphins situation with Saban. It was really bizarre.
