Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. SEC player of the year Chris “Bend over, Tubby” Lofton has decided all is still not forgiven and will return to Knoxville for his senior season so he can stick his hob-nailed adidas sneaker up the collective butts of K-Y at least two more times.

Lofton, projected as a lower second-round NBA pick, figures to fill a roster void, and, expand his skill set by sharing some point guard duties next season. Further, two more regular-season chances to pimp-slap the Mildcats for several dozen points should easily raise his career scoring average by several points and consequently, his status in next year’s NBA draft.
