My money is on Jeremy Foley and Chris Leak for getting fleeced.  [TBO Sports] Both of these rocket scientists  were probably easy and lucrative marks for a Nigerian Email Phishing scam like the one below:

I will say it again, Barry Switzer when he was running that outlaw program at Oklahoma thought it would last forever too. This has be more red flags to the NCAA that something is fucked up in Gunsville.

Other competing theories:

It really must be good to be Chris Rainey [EDSBS] or the Gainesville Police Department.

One can only speculate that with all of the arrests only since National Signing Day that the costs of “sweeping it under the carpet” in Gainesville is becoming cost prohibitive.
