Chinese gymnast, Wang Yan, is making a miraculous recovery after last month’s fall that left her paralyzed…On June 10, 2007, Wang was performing on the uneven bars at the national titles in Shanghai; when she fell from the bars landing on her head, and breaking her neck…As you can see from the photo, it wasn’t a pretty sight…The gymnast’s head came clean off leaving her unable to move…
Wang, not one to let something like paralysis stop her, has made a miraculous recovery…It started with raising her arms and legs over her head, and now has extended all the way to floor exercises (see picture)…Wang, through an interpreter that guessed what she would say if she still had a mouth, told reporters that, “The fall was really painful, but I knew, even though I lost my head, that if that horseman could do it, so could I. I’m really just ready to get out there and show the world that you don’t need head to be successful, even though it helps. In addition, I would like to give my interpreter a raise.”
The story of Wang Yan is truly remarkable, and will make for the most intriguing Summer Olympics in history, when they come to Beijing in the Summer of 2008…Wang will get the chance that she so desperately desires to show her country, and the the world, that she’s back…
The preceding story is completely fabricated…Well, not completely…you can read for yourself here…
