Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Check the ESPN video page with Granny and Mark May. Granny says he’s “extremely confident” that Cal Thumps UT. Of course Rece “the Bammer” What’s His Nuts plays pile on. They did this last year, Cal is the trendy pick…again [ESPN]. Lou Holtz is senile and a Notre Dame whore, spreading his legs for the money.

He is extremely predictable and boring. Yes, he hates Tennessee. I’m sure he didn’t enjoy the Vols beating him every time we played. I have NEVER seen a coach look more defeated than Lou Holtz did 4 years ago when he was beaten in Knoxville in a game that the Gamecocks should have won. I don’t feel sorry for the guy.

He is going to pick against Tennessee every time a team has a decent shot at beating us. And he is going to be loyal as hell to every program he has been the Head Coach at when it comes to making predictions prior to games. It is what it is and it isn’t going to change.

And remember, he replaced Trev.  This corpse is the best and brightest that ESPN  could find.

What’s really bizarre is that E$PN is supposed to be all fan friendly, ie. bringing College Gameday to football stadiums all over the country – and now incorporating Gameday into NCAA hoops. But this huge conglomerate just doesn’t get it. I have yet to speak to, witness or even hear of anyone giving Granny any respect. Infact everyone I’ve ever spoken to thinks this guy is nothing more than a washed up clown who has proven that he has no cred.

Why doesn’t E$PN dump this asshat and bring in someone who fuqing “get’s it”. Or at least someone who isn’t relying on Depends to get him through the broadcast without soiling himself.. I digress.

  2. He replaced Trev, caustic homer for caustic homer trade

  3. You think it’s bad now…

Wait until you have to watch Bowden and JoePa joust over the finer points of CFB on a Saturday morning…

  4. I’d rather them bring Trev back. At least he didn’t sugarcoat or hide his allegiances…

I saw last night that May picked TN over FL. Lou looked like he wanted to kill over Fred Sanford style and once again ‘Bama Rece picked the Gators over the Vols. Now, I agree this game can go either way, but the look on old Lou’s face was priceless. When they picked the Cal-UT game, May had that look of “I can’t wait til I get a better offer from Fox or NFL Network” on his face. I’m no Mark May fan, but at least he gives you SOME reason to pick one team and why he didn’t pick the other team, He’s a homer too, but I’ve seen him pick against Pitt several times over the years. He knows his school sucks right now…

  5. Lou Holtz picks against Arkansas almost every time. He used to coach there.

I saw him in person signing his book in a (guess where!) Wal-Mart.

  6. Well no one expected Arkansas to have the year they had last year. IF it were last year, I would not have expected Bud Walton to send in his picks from the grave and pick his beloved Razorbacks. Yes McFadden is a top 5 pick and was probably one going into last season and Felix Jones is a talented RB also, but Rev. Nutt is coaching Team Turmoil…

It is funny seeing Lou Holtz at a Wal-Mart. Was he hanging out with the Door Greeter??? I’m sure they were the same age…

  7. Door Greeters don’t like hanging out with Lou. He’s too old for them they say. He’s always hitting on the old ladies even if they are married. It’s pretty sad.
