Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

I’ll take a loss with Coach Nick Saban over a win with Les Miles [link].

(Please don’t let us get croomed. In Bear’s hallowed name we pray, Amen)

Did I hear that LSU is the most penalized team in the SEC? Did I also hear that teams that play Bama usually draw the most penalites? I wonder why that is? That little nugget earns a big shout out to the Red Elephant Club!! [Saban Nation]

Here is some sage advice that will keep the program stable and you Roids should allow Coach Saban to grow into the job. Try and think of it as OJT (on job training). Just bite the bullet for a while and not look for instant gratification. This is just the low (not the lowest) point in a cycle caused by the wrong doing of previous coaches, rogue boosters and administrators. Remember the old saying on Cops: do the crime; do the time.

Bow up your backs Bammeroid fans and act like men of honor, not the citizens of the Finebaum Nation: Centerville Shane, Psycho Jim, Michael the Prophet, and Phyllis of Mulga.

No, the Bammeroids are not there yet. It is going to take time to re-establish the indentured servant, i.e. slave trade routes to bring in the raw recruits to be carved, marinated, pounded, roasted and skewered by head chef Nick Saban. The meat on the hoof is then to be presented to the starving, wild eyed, carnivorous Bammeroid fans at Bryant-Denny’s stadium.

It takes time to teach discipline, self-control, ice cream cone licking, gun toting, chop blocking, text book selling, smack talking, throat slashing, jive strutting, hip-hopping behavior and tradition to the newest generation of Bammeroid players.

  1. So lame. On another thread, I asked the simple question, “Why does the penalties for and against stat automatically mean Bama’s cheating?” I gave the plausible answer that maybe Saban, knowing that he would be out-manned in big games, decided to concentrate on fundamentals and discipline so as to gain a competitive advantage with penalties, etc. against superior opponents. I asked for someone to refute this explanation with more than just “Well, Bama is a cheater,” “Bama cheats,” etc. with nothing to back up the statement. Please provide some real evidence of us paying the refs, or offer a better explanation as to why there is such a disparity in penalties.

And before criticizing our players’ actions, might I remind you of your boy Arian Foster, not to mention the many well-documented transgressions that your players have committed over the years under Fulmer. That is a stat that is truly irrefutable (see “Fulmer Cup” on EDSBS).

By the way, Bama fans are quite pleased with the pace we are on and aren’t seeking instant gratification, though we came close last week. If we can finish out strong and show improvement in each game, the majority of fans will be quite pleased going into the recruiting season (which, by the way, is shaping up to be pretty darn good – see Monday’s news about TN’s # 1 prospect).

  2. jai??? quoting message boards?? even my no talent ass doesn’t do that. i’m officially done.

  3. Gerry

I only meant to capture the mindset of the fully mature Bammeroid.

  4. @1, as much trouble as Tennessee has had over the years. Nothing a vol has done compares to the troubles of Bama. You roids should have received the SMU death penalty

  5. I agree, Jai. They should have received the death penalty.

  6. LL, i feel reasonable confident that Saban can lead them to glory, before he leaves

  7. Jai,

Nothing compares? Tee Martin getting cash from a Mobile woman? Foster and the new 4 strikes and you’re out policy? Multiple off the field incidents in each of the last 10 years.

Yes, Bama cheated and they paid dearly for it, but to say that nothing TN has done compares is laughable. In fact, I think once Fulmer & the boys were outbid on Means, they started going after Bama and Logan Young. To sit here and act like your program has been clean is ridiculous. While Alabama cheated big, we’ve never had the off-the-field problems that Fulmer’s players have been a part of.

TN cheated as well, they just were able to roll on others, or why else would nothing have happened with Tee Martin or the English professor who pretty much said “I was told to give grades to football players” (or something like that, it was in the Playboy with the Girls of the SEC the time before this year).

Get off your high horse and just admit that Bama is not paying referees for penalties. I still haven’t had a decent response to that.

  8. Bammers sure can activate the spin machine. Did Tennessee get put on probation? No

I saw the actual numbers in the comments that indicates the disproportionate amount of penalties between Alamaba and their opponents. It is the comments of one o the blogs. Yeah, where there is smoke there is a bammer booster???

  9. I suppose they’d take a loss with Saban over a win with Croom, while they’re at it.

  10. How Tennessee lost to that sorry ass team is beyond me.

  11. Yeah, the Vols looked pretty strong today (albeit against a poorly coached Arkansas team). Where y’all been hiding that run defense all year?

  12. Terribly coached Arkansas team. This is me throwing my hat in the mud.

  13. Saban has vastly improved this Bammer team, don’t let today’s loss make you think other wise.

Last season under Shula they lost by 8 at home to State
With Saban they only lost by 5 on the road to State. With Shula they had to go to OT to beat Ole Miss but Saban handled his bussiness in regulation this year.

    RTR Bama’s back bitches!

  14. @13 Oh, I don’t disagree, Saban is the man, and he’ll bring you back to the spotlight (he sure as hell brought us out of oblivion). I was just referring to the ridiculous quote at the top of the post.

  15. Glad to see the Auburn fans appreciating Alabama’s loss over that kick in the face UGA gave them.

  16. AU was throat raped by UGA last year too, didn’t stop SJJPW from eating grass that next game.

You heading down to the Loveliest Village on the Plains for the game?

  17. I doubt I can unless I get tickets. I’ll probably be in Dothan with my family since it’ll be Thanksgiving time. Don’t worry though, half of my family wears orange and blue (mix of UF and AU).

Should be enjoyable to watch until JPW gets acquainted with the grass again, tossing the ball whichever way he chooses. We’ll score some, sputter around, and lose by 7 to 10 points probably.
