Our slogan should be “Really fucking good… but not good enough”.With a chance to get to a national championship and win our first national championship ever in either sport, we choke against our bitter rivals at home, who happened to be 28 point underdogs. I even heard we favored by 6 TDs….6….The Mountaineer Nation has no Curse to blame losses like last night’s on. We have no Harry Frazee to blame through the ages.

We have to simply suck all our emotions up and wait until Spring Practice, then Fall Practice, when the slate is clean and the promise of a fresh, new season brings joyful anticipation.We – the Mountaineer Nation – can choose to build our mythology now, during these truly amazing Golden Years of Mountaineer Sports.

We can choose to carry the torch of fanhood for as long as it takes – and how sweet will it be when the winningest college football program without a National Title finally wins it?Or we can cry ourselves to sleep this week, believing all those from the so-called ‘Elite Football Programs’ who say we don’t belong, that we are unworthy to climb the mountain of football supremecy.

    I don’t think you will EVER have an easier path to a MNC as you just blew. WVU would roll OSU. Thats gotta be a tough pill to swallow. One of the biggest chokes I have ever seen in college football.

    I think that statement pretty much says it all! The Mountainqueers had the NC sitting there with a big red bow on it and they just couldn’t pull it together to beat a God aweful Pitt team, even with the help of the Zebras. Biggest chokes ever, in any sport!

    Hey guys lay off Eer, for once he makes a humble post. I was going to put in some smartass comment about “good luck without slaton and white next year” but it turns out they are returning.

    Not returning many on Defense, but since when did the 3-3-5 really factor into RRod’s gameplan anyways?

    I don’t think you should be talking about the would-be thrashing of Ohio State if you can’t beat lowly Pitt. Let’s leave the Nostradamus like reactions when you can actually win a big game when you need it, eh?

    Act like you’ve been there before. Which is obvious, Mountaineer nation hasn’t.

    WfV would have blown the doors off of anOSU. Even though i love the sweet sweet chaos, i hate it for you Eer. Now we have to rely on a pschytzo LSU team to beat the suckeyes. LSU could win by 30 or lose by 10, and it has nothing to do with the ability of anOSU. Miles eats his own poo when no one is looking.

    I give the nod to #6.. They are an emotional team, and I just don’t know how they’ll rebound after really just throwing it all away..

    Too bad they didn’t get another chance, like the 3 LSU got. And the 2 OSU got as well.

    Umm, they got TWO chances people.

    They were all slated for the NC when they lost to *cough* UNRANKED South Florida. And then got a second chance only to lose to *cough* UNRANKED Pitt.

    Everyone this year got two chances. LSU just happened to get 3.

    Definately not bitter about anything here.. To be honest, and I didn’t want to share, but i knew UGA had no chance.. Infact, I’d feel CHEAP, if we did get the chance..

    We should have been undefeated this year. No way in hell those two games should have been like that. Honestly, 11-1 would have been the end cap..

    But I didn’t want there. Who wants to win it this year, when it feels so cheapened? I congratulate LSU for making, and I hope they fuck OSU in the backdoor so hard Herbie gets jealous and wants a moneyshot from Miles too..

    But the reality is.. This was the year of second and third chances..

    Can you honestly say you expected to be where you were after losing to KY, and getting knocked down? Or even the late season loss to unranked ARK? That was a killer, and I know many thought it was Sugar Bowl, and thats it..

    So to be blunt..Nope.

    @11 No, and after our second loss, my only thoughts were focused on making the first NOLA BCS game, not the second one. That, and of course, who was going to coach us in it.

    Yes, we are fortunate, no doubt about it. But, it’s not like we should turn down the winning lottery ticket. Still, no matter how we got in, or if we beat OSU by 1 or 100, the end result is all that matters.

    Ear,
    I will say this, I hate to bash on you, but I am glad we won’t be facing you in the NGC. I think you would have really put a hurting on us. With a full month and a half to prepare, we may have been able to slow you down, but I don’t know. As for LSU, they are a team that we will be able to handle much more. We can and will stop their team, and they won’t be able stop us. Remember, we are 1-0-1 against LSU and 1-0 against Miles. Go ahead, chalk one more win up for the Buckeyes!
