Joshua Irizarry’s heartfelt plea and willingness to work around obstacles got him a
brief consideration for the gig as head football coach at West Virginia University.[link]
“Consider the publicity your campus would receive,” he wrote. “I understand this would be a move more suited for a team like Temple, but I am just asking for your consideration.” Temple. Ouch.
His qualifications:…. ‘making up new plays to fool defenses in local sandlot games.” The kid would dominate in the Big East. Nobody plans or plays any level of Big Boy Defense anyhow. Trooper Taylor got his start that way. Just drawin up plays in the dirt. Oh that’s right he has never been a coordinator.
Now Joshua hopes WVU will accept him as a student and teach him to be a coach or trainer: “I told the president in an e-mail after to keep my letter on file.” Genius. Not much confidence in Coach Stewart?
