Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less!
Newt Gingrich and friends are pushing a campaign to drill here, drill now, and pay less. For years, the Federal government has had a moratorium on drilling in the United States. While we sit on our on oil reserves, China and Cuba are drilling just 60 miles off of the coast of Florida. It’s nice to have a pristine environment, but to be honest I’d rather pay a dollar per gallon and deal with a little pollution. In all honesty though, we have the technology to drill with very little environmental impact to our natural environment. Other nations are not going to stop sucking oil out of the planet and THEY are the polluters that should scare you, not the most responsible nation in the history of the world (the good old USA).
Environmentalists decry the exploration of oil in so-called “pristine environments” or national landmarks. But most of these so-called wonders of nature are nothing more than useless, bland, empty spaces that contribute nothing at all to society and/or nature for that matter. One such place is Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA. Imagine how much oil could be resting underneath this cultural eyesore. Has this stadium ever produced a championship of any value? No. Does this stadium enhance the culture of college football? No. Grown men gobble like turkeys and the greatest “tradition” on campus is jumping up and down to an early 90’s song by a metal band past their prime. “Enter Sandman”? Who the hell came up with that? Why not “Fade To Black” or something before the big sell out of the so called “black album”? Or better yet, why don’t the geniuses in Blacksburg sit down and come up with a tradition in the vein of the great powers of college football. Hell, even Ole Miss has traditions. Ole Miss!!!!!
I call on all of you to write your local, state, and national representatives and insist that Lane Stadium be opened immediately for oil exploration. It’s not being used for championship football and it could save the country from pain at the pump.
