Lets not kid ourselves folks, the previous head coach and his staff had this thing, this juggernaut rolling. We had kids visiting Morgantown that in previous years would not even give WVU a sniff of a visit. Now by God, we have a few of these kids signing up to play for my old Gold and Blue. There is a lot of truth in the cliche of “it’s the Jimmy and Joes and not the x’s and o’s”. Not entirely the kids, but for the most part talent wins games (duh)
With that being said, just because Mr. Ego and his gang left town does not mean this thing can not keep on rolling along like a well-oiled machine. This staff will get these kids to another BCS bowl (with yet another win over an SEC team), that is a given in my bookof EER Life. But getting to a bowl is not the big prize like it used to be, hell, who don’t go to a bowl (Shreveport ring a bell?). 10 and 11 win seasons and playing in BCS bowls is the big prize in these kids eyes. Not even the previous staff was going to get WVU in a BCS bowl every year. It will be interesting to see how the recruiting goes with this staff after this season. This staff can recruit (Holliday, Beatty and Galloway). Got a feeling ole Bill could sell a drowning man a bucket of water.
My opinion it will take another 2 out of the next 3 years of big time games, big time bowls and many TV appearances to keep it rolling. Let’s face it, you can only sell so many bucket of waters until they so “no”. This is going to be a huge year in WVU football history, good. Country Roads, motherfuckers.
