Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Whenever 11 ranked Tennessee faces 7th ranked Alabama, it feels like something bigger is on the line than just football. Any game with the University of Alabama is a day of harvest for the devil.

It’s a rivalry that’s as deep as Southern soil, and every time the Volunteers take on the Crimson Tide, it’s a battle of pride, identity, and a a shit ton of spite.

Apparently Josh Heupel got the memo: “I don’t care if we are playing Alabama in a game of country Jake…I want to beat them. No matter what sport/game. I want to steal their women, drink their whiskey and kill bigger deer than them”.

And guess what? Josh did it again. He beat Bama. That’s how it oughta be.

For Tennessee stars like QB Nico and Chris Brazzell, the stakes go beyond the game.

Tennessee is a program on the rise, with Josh Heupel at the helm, and they’re hungry to reclaim their place at the top. Class and grit (and an elite ball-hawking Defense) are the keys to taking Tennessee to new heights—and sending Alabama is always part of the equation.
