Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Bama Bias, Colorado Glazing, B1G media domination, Schiano Sunday fallout, Chris Fowler ESPN character assassinations, Trailer Park Frenzy. Pick one. Pick two or three from above. Tennessee players snubbed again.

Greg ‘Sleepy’ Sankey, you are absolutely fucking this up by the numbers. And the most infuriating part? You won’t face an ounce of scrutiny for it. Nobody’s going to waterboard your Bama loving ass or ship you off to a CIA black site over these playoff selections or the absolute clown show of individual award snubs. But since this is a Tennessee site, let me focus on how you’ve fucked over Tennessee’s standout players, because goddamn, it’s ridiculous.

Tennessee Players Getting Omitted

Tennessee players are out here outperforming on the field, but they’re getting shit on in the awards, disrespected by the media, and completely shafted by the SEC’s second-rate media processes. Meanwhile, the Big Ten makes us look like amateurs with their ability to hype their players. And don’t even get me started on the endless meat-gazing/glazing over Colorado, Travis Hunter, and Deion’s kids. Jesus Christ, we get it—move the fuck on already.

Dylan Sampson: A Record-Breaking Snub

Take Dylan Sampson, our junior running back who lit the dadgone world on fire this season. SEC Offensive Player of the Year. 1,485 rushing yards. 22 touchdowns. New program records. And what does he get for it? Not a fricking thing. The Heisman didn’t even glance in his direction. How in the hell does the SEC Offensive Player of the Year not crack the fucking Heisman top 10?

Oh, but a Big Ten tight end made it. A fucking tight end! Don’t get me wrong, I respect the guy, but come on. He had 400 fewer yards, 12 fewer touchdowns, and somehow he’s on the list while Sampson isn’t? What the actual fuck?

Jermod McCoy: Disrespected and Ignored

And then there’s Jermod McCoy. This sophomore cornerback earned second-team All-SEC honors and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award—the award for the best goddamn defensive back in the country. But does he get first-team All-SEC? Nope. Does he make it to the Thorpe finalist stage? Hell no. Let me guess, Greg—this is some kind of Bama-apologist bullshit. Are we still being punished for beating Alabama? Do you cry crimson tears every night over it?

The SEC’s PR Machine Is a Joke

These “omissions” (yeah, I’m sarcastically throwing air quotes around that) make it crystal fucking clear that you, Greg, and the rest of your cronies couldn’t promote SEC players if your lives depended on it. Meanwhile, the Big Ten is out here running a goddamn PR machine, making sure their athletes dominate national award conversations. What do we get? The SEC looking like a disorganized group of Bama dick-riders who can’t figure out how to properly showcase their players.

Fix It or GTFO

So here’s the deal: the SEC either needs to get its shit together or we need to get rid of you and your crimson-colored glasses. Or how about both? A new commissioner would be great. Start promoting the athletes who actually deserve national recognition, or step-off and let someone else do it. Enough of this bullshit. Fix it, or fuck off.
