Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Back in January, we posted a three part series Playing a Par 5 with Nick Saban that posited a quiet conversation on an Alabama golf course about the future of SEC football, Kalen DeBoer, NIL, power in college football, and what role Coach Saban might play next.

As Coach would say, “getting shit done”.

We broke it first.

I have a screenshot from a now deleted Reddit thread that discusses how much traction we had. I have no idea why it was deleted other than we were scooping the national media and LWS didn’t fit their ‘narrative’.

As anticipated, later, the topic has become a national debate. Coach going to DC to meet with POTUS. This topic was critical that POTUS took a respite from making war to meet with Coach.

Sometimes the most important conversations in college football don’t happen in the SEC HQ.

They happen somewhere quieter.

On a mountain golf course.

Between tee shots.

More from Coach is coming.

  1. Funny how Alabama suddenly discovered the sanctity of amateurism the exact moment everyone else started paying players too.
