Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Ahhh D-Mo, what were you thinking?  The ‘D’ in D-Mo is for your GPA?

I wonder if this will qualify in the EDSBS Fulmer Cup Race? Former (?) Tennessee starting Safety and Miami University High School’s Demetrice Morley was denied re-admission back into the University.

OK, Pyscho Vols Fans, try maintain some perpective here, this isn’t like the LSU QB Ryan Perriloux Federal Investigation for Money Laundering incident.

Even though I am a Volunteer Fan, I have to chuckle as I read the angst , both real and perceived, of a raucous, spoiled and overweight fan-base. Anyone remember when Fulmer stood at the podium and told them: SHUT YOUR PIEHOLES?

The Fulmer-haters are loading up on the great Battle Captain. Comparing him to the Coca-Cola CEO who has lost control of his delivery trucks. Then there is the Pro-Fulmer Crew who counter with “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink” in regards to Morley’s lack of study habits.

Is this the same situation has Herban Meyer’s hands being tied by a University “Board” over the Medicinal Mota Marcus Thomas incident? A “who shot John?” scenario? Fulmer, like Meyer, was the ultimate decision maker of gets on the field to play. I hope that Fulmer did not sell his integrity for a Bowl Game like Herban Meyer. If so, I guess the joke is on Fulmer. Unlike Meyer, Fulmer lost the game along with his ingretity.

Fulmer can’t withstand an academic scandal with the Orange Burqa-wearing Vols fans on his ass. I do know this: If it looks like poo, smells like poo then it must be poo.

(Above, A Volquest Reader dispensing some justice on a non-believer)

Here is what Brent Hubbs Editor of Volquest ( VQ Freaks, this was on the public and free side of VQ, so blow me. Consider it free advertising. I have a lot of traffic on this site, so just say thanks) and Chris Low of the Tennessean had to say about it :

(This is not spell checked this from Hubbs just work your way through it) The obvious question is how was Morley eligible to play in the Outback Bowl if he is not academically eligible to remain a student at Tennessee.

Morley’s dismissal is not about hours. He passed six hours in order to be eligible for the bowl game, but he is not in good enough academic standing to remain a student at the University. The University has a gpa requirement that must be maintained. If a student falls below that requirement then they go on academic probation. If they do not improve their gpa to get off probation in that semester, then they have to go before the University which is what Morley did today and he was denied his appeal.

Morley’s arrive at Tennessee came with great fanfare and alot of scrutiny. Morley was highly regarded coming out of University High School in Miami, but he drew national attention and was the poster child for the movement to shut down “grade factories”.
