This guy?!
That’s right, kids. Today, Jason Giambi can wake up, look at his stupid biker tats and know that he is the smartest man in the sports universe today.
Thought he never mentioned the words “steroids,” the meathead appears to be confessing and apologizing for taking performance enhancing drugs.
“‘I was wrong for doing that stuff,’ Giambi told USA TODAY on Wednesday before playing the Chicago White Sox. ‘What we should have done a long time ago was stand up — players, ownership, everybody — and said: ‘We made a mistake.’”
Now do I completely buy this ‘Jason comes clean good guy’ act? Not so much. But I think there’s something to be said for the guy stepping up and saying “Yeah I did it, so did everyone else? We should apologize for what we’ve done to the game.” The real shame of this isn’t so much that Barry Bonds will break Hank Aaron’s record in the near, near future but it’s that some of the games genuinely great young players (see: Ryan Howard, Grady Sizemore) will have to perform with a cloud of suspicion hanging overhead.
