Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Yell: We are (loudly and with authority) Penn State

This story [Pittsburg Gazette] makes me like JoePa even more. I am not  a fan of PSU, or the Big 10 for that matter.  Maybe some of the SEC coaches like Herban Meyer and Phil Fulmer could try this.  Cleaning up a stadium, hungover or still drunk sucks. might get rid of one of the most fucked up things that I have ever heard of..the 4 strikes and your out rule [link].

JoPa is a legend and as far as recruiting is concerned, any player with discipline and a team mindset will have nothing but admiration for the way that he conducts his team. Not only is picking up trash as a team a punishment and a warning to players, it is also a technique to bring those young men closer together. JoePa specializes in team-building an I wish that college football would focus on this aspect of the game more than they do now. Some things are better done in the old-school way.

But then linebacker Sean Lee came back out and delivered some bad news.

“Joe said we didn’t do a good enough job,” the Upper St. Clair High School product said. “We’ve got to go back.”

The players quickly shuffled off the buses and returned to the stadium to finish up their chores. Mr. Paterno dismissed them about 15 minutes later.

The first cleanup assignment was complete, even if the stadium wasn’t spotless.

First down and six to go.

I bet his players will think twice before acting like assholes again. Better self-policing of the team will help keep them out of trouble. Because you know another major fuck up and JoePa is gonna break his foot off in their asses. We need more coaches like him to keep some of these self-centered football players in line [link].

  1. Those buses look like they borrowed them from the pen. Where are the shotgun toting CO’s??? Did JoePa have a clipboard in his hands reading off the jersey #’s of his players for roll call??? Was Anthony Morelli asking “Bathroom Break, Boss”???

Only JoePa could get away with this. Maybe Meyer, Carroll, or Mack Brown. A coach with tenure, clout, and/or balls can do this without alums and boosters going psycho.

  2. Pickin’ up the hotdog wrapper JoePa!

Pick up that hotdog wrapper, Dragline.

  3. […] Also, Joe Paterno is a good man.  And thorough. [Loser With Socks] […]
