Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Goodness, a two game losing streak, then outcoached by the SEC’s resident short bus rider Les Miles.  Great imitation of the deer in the headlights, Herb.

Even Gators have to admit that the felonious off-field stuff has to have some impact on the team, right? Players getting arrested or being involved in a law enforcement investigation every month has to be a huge distraction.

Here are some post-game quotes from the Herb:

“I made a comment about the soul of a man and found out we have some pretty good men on our football team with strong souls,” Keep telling yourself that Herb. Good men don’t spend a lot of time in jail.

(I suspect that 890 is probably one of the few decent kids on this team. Thanks Saints 16 for the picture. )

Keeping in mind that a lot of Gators like marijuana, the following quote was clearly Freudian:

“The future of Florida football is terrific, it really is,” he said. “I guarantee we’ll be back. The Florida Gators will be back. Smokin‘.”

Anyone notice that Ron Zook is doing pretty good at Illinois?

From blog kn0wn as Drizzle. From 2 years ago when a weepy Herb lost to LSU: Urban Meyer officially entered my douchebag hall of fame Saturday night. Did you see him with the gameday crew on the late wrap up, his whole, “not to be whatever, but I don’t think any team has been through what this team has been through” bullshit. What an egotistical prick. Let’s name a couple. Seriously, umm how about Tulane or LSU ? They went through a f’ing hurricane. Or even a lesser one. How about Alabama? They lost their biggest playmaker in the most cringe worthy injury since McGahee’s knee went pop, lock, unlock, pop the other way, I hide my eyes to keep from vomiting. I mean honestly, what the hell has Florida gone through? They lost Caldwell. Congrats, I doubt I’d rank that in the top 5 even in the SEC of painful personnel losses. They lost a tough one to LSU and everyone cried? WTF? Welcome to the SEC, it ain’t the Mountain West anymore jackbag, you’re gonna lose a game like that pretty much every year, hell maybe more than one. You gonna cry after every one and then act like your team overcame the greatest adversity in the world in recovering from it?

  1. why all the hate? it’s unbecoming jai…..couple of points
    1. yes, meyer cried after the last lsu loss, tebow cried after this one.
    2. yes, florida has lost 2 in a row
    3. no, it isn’t the mountain west conference
    4. yes, some gators have trouble with the law.
now, you can’t honestly tell me that florida is a soft, mountain-west type team. they punched lsu in the mouth and took everything they offered. it was just a helluva football game.

  2. yes it was a good game. I agree with everything you said

  3. As a Gator, I have no problem with the fact that our Coaches and Players get emotional and hate – downright fuckin’ HATE – losing. Make fun of it all you want.

Now, as for this “Drizzle” cat, he can fuck right off. I’m not comparing “war stories”, but the fact of the matter is that our state had 4 hurricanes hit it in a matter of weeks in 2004. If you think for one second that didn’t have any effect on a lot of our players, then you’re an idiot, Dude.

Along with that, I’m sick of hearing about Katrina. Pick up the pieces and move on. The “leaders” in that state from the Mayor to the Governor to FEMA all failed miserably. Then, the idiots in New Orleans re-elected that douche. Unbelievable. They deserve what they get. I have no sympathy for a bunch of low-lifes who are that dumb and I have no sympathy for the thugs who chose not to evacuate so they could stay around and loot.

And yes, Zook is doing good at Illinois. At Illinois, in the Big Ten. Not the SEC.

  4. don’t get too worked up over a semi-literate ‘drizzle’…..and, let’s reserve judgment on the zooker til the end of the year. i have to admit, he’s been doing well so far.

personally, i think he’s outrecruiting the big ten, and winning games with athletes. at florida, while recruiting well, he was chronically outcoached with a far smaller differential in ‘talent’….i.e. tennessee/georgia/fsu/lsu et al, had the same kids suiting up. at illinois, in a short time no less, he’s putting better playmakers on the field than some of the storied programs.

  5. I can accept the Auburn loss. We had bad play calling. But the refs made this loss unbearable.

  6. i’m the other way around munchie….this game was a classic, and i’m proud of the way we played. as for the auburn game, we should’ve had a better effort

  7. “Welcome to the SEC, it ain’t the Mountain West anymore jackbag, you’re gonna lose a game like that pretty much every year, hell maybe more than one.”

Except, apparently, when playing the Vols…
