There is a chance that this loss could linger (I remember LSU vs UT 2001 effects), especially after West Virginia’s favorite Mexican son’s downbeat news conference. I know he was hurting as we all were, but he is the leader and he has to keep it together. Hopefully he gets it turned around TODAY, because Oklahoma is a great opportunity to get it our ship righted………
We get a quick shot at redemption against what is arguably the best team playing football right now.
If we can go out to the Fiesta Bowl and beat OU, this loss will diminish quickly. We won’t, we can’t ever forget this loss because it did cost us a shot at the National Title, but a win over OU would go a long way to restoring credibility both for this year and next.
A win and we will finish top 5 and most likely start there next year. A loss, and who knows?
ROD CAN NOT let Pitt beat us twice. He has been pretty good about that over the years, but that is one thing is for sure.
He MUST find “answers” to Pitt’s intelligent game plan (yes, Mountaineer fans, Wanny can coach a little bit, especially on defense) or we will see nothing but that until we DO come up with those answers.
For next year, that would mean a couple of serious deep threat receivers. For this year, he needs to find a way to get the ball up the field, even on outs, slants or true down field passes.
Hopefully we will heal up over the break and RR gets his swagger back.
