I feel obligated to post something about TeBow. So here:
People seem to mix up what this award means. I remember the Bush vs. Young Heisman controversy a couple of years ago, I heard the best explanation from someone as to why he voted Bush, something like: “the standard of the award says ‘most outstanding,’ – not ‘most valuable player’ or ‘best overall player.’”
It is so good to see Tebow win the Heisman. What a way to finish the year after UF went to the SEC championship…oh wait…sorry, that didn’t happen. Well, good luck in the national championship…oh wait…that didn’t happen either.

Tebow ran for 22 TDs and threw for 29. His QB stats were pretty damn good in and of themselves, but his rushing statistics throws that way over the top (he had more rushing TDs than McFadden). He had an unquestionably outstanding season, and it is pretty easy to argue that he has the most outstanding season this year. McFadden was also great, and could be argued the best college player if you add in playability in the NFL, but Tebow’s season was simply amazing. And that’s what the award is – for the most outstanding player that year.
