Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

I feel obligated to post something about TeBow. So here:

People seem to mix up what this award means. I remember the Bush vs. Young Heisman controversy a couple of years ago, I heard the best explanation from someone as to why he voted Bush, something like: “the standard of the award says ‘most outstanding,’ – not ‘most valuable player’ or ‘best overall player.’”

It is so good to see Tebow win the Heisman. What a way to finish the year after UF went to the SEC championship…oh wait…sorry, that didn’t happen. Well, good luck in the national championship…oh wait…that didn’t happen either.

Tebow ran for 22 TDs and threw for 29. His QB stats were pretty damn good in and of themselves, but his rushing statistics throws that way over the top (he had more rushing TDs than McFadden). He had an unquestionably outstanding season, and it is pretty easy to argue that he has the most outstanding season this year. McFadden was also great, and could be argued the best college player if you add in playability in the NFL, but Tebow’s season was simply amazing. And that’s what the award is – for the most outstanding player that year.

  1. Ok, Tebow scores TDs running/passing, runs people over, wins Heisman…etc.

Let’s get back to the man kissing, teary eyed, jort wearing version. He’s much more fun to watch!

  2. I agree, it is boring to watch him score over and over

  3. Agreed, statistically speaking, his year was Brady-esque. HOWEVER, I don’t know how ESPN could get away with Lee Korso giving him head on live television. WTF?? Dude is like “If we ever send a human into outerspace to meet an alien race, we will send Tim Tebow as he is the greatest human being alive on the planet.”
And McFadden, who I was pulling for, and who should look great in a Dolphins jersey, sat there thinking “Oh christ I hate this mother f**ker.”
He also kind of looks like Kanye West on roids.

  4. Miami won’t draft McFadden. They need help on both lines, QB, hell, just about everything. I say Glenn Dorsey or one of the QB’s, maybe Jake Long. It is still possible for the Patriots to get McFadden, since they get the 49ers first round pick.

tebow played a lot better than I, and probably most other people besides Gator fans, than I thought. I was just sure he would get folded like a wallet but he took every hit and deserved to win…

  5. As a Gator fan, I expected him to be a good QB, but not to put up the numbers he did. He already had a bullseye on his back because of all the hype, but he really impressed me all year long with his poise. He never really seemed to get rattled.

And as a Jacksonville native, it’s pretty cool to see a local kid win the award. Let’s hope he gets us back to Atlanta next year.

p.s. Anyone else notice Colt Brennan sporting jorts on the beach with Desmond Howard?

  6. Who coached the dolphins last year?

tebow thanked his lord & savior 40 times & thanked the ‘gator nation’ 17 times during his acceptance speech, while his mother & father cried and Urban Meyer whacked off in the background. He never once thanked the world’s most attractive person, his much circulated swampskankalicious / fantastic titted alleged girlfriend.

So maybe she is his lord & savior…or if he is God than was he thanking himself?

  8. prell…not his girl.

just some random busty chick. SI interview, Tebow :”I have no girlfriend.”

check out my site. Ive put any and all rumors to rest.
