Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Stay beautiful Lil Rebs, cuz the football team will be ugly for while longer

Houston Dale Nutt is already making the same mistakes his predecessor did, but putting his D-Line’s eggs in Jerrell Powe’s basket.  Ask The 0 how that worked out for him.

Jerrell Powe is on track to complete the required academic work with only ten days of school left.  Will apply for him to be eligible to compete with the rest of the team.  – Nutt at Ole Most Alumni Meeting in ATL.

[More delusional than Bammeroids?]

Jerrell Powe and the Mascotless are already 0-3 when it comes to getting this non-reading beast of a D-Tackle cleared by the NCAA, so why are they rolling the dice again?  Who fucking knows?  This is HDN running the show, not some USC cast-a-way in Special Ed Orgeron.  Powe hasn’t played a down of organized football since the Carter administration, but the Mascotless still think this dude can play.

His weight has ballooned from 322 when he originally signed with Ole Miss back in ’91 to 381 after a record 1,000 visits to Abner’s and now he is down to 343 according to the Ole Miss NAMBLA chapter.  Apparently he switched from the fried to the grilled Abner’s chicken tenders after Nutt arrived.  Even if Jerrell Powe is in playing condition, there is no way he is at the 5 Star DT level he was when he signed way back when.

Why the hell did Nutt move from Ar-kansas to Ole Mrs. anyways?  The fan base is nearly as delusional but then there is that little pesky thing you have to deal with called in-state competition.  Don’t fool yourselves Lil Rebs, Ole Most is the 3rd best program in the state right now, maybe even 4th behind the Delta State Fightin’ Okra.

What recruits the Barn and UAT don’t take from the north and central part of the state and what LSU doesn’t take from the Coast Trash area of the state leaves very little talent for 3 schools to fight over.  At least at U of Ark you get 90% of the talent from the entire state, and I haven’t seen any hot ass TV reporters that I would have an extramarital affair with in Mississippi.

Are those chicks hot? Fa sho! But why does the rest of the SEC have to put on their church clothes just to go to a football game?

  3. I heard Powe was mauling Ole Miss’ best OLs last year in two-a-days (you know, before the NCAA could throw the kill switch). I don’t think most Lil’ Rebs will believe Powe is eligible until he makes his first sack. But you’re right, he’s probably way past his football prime at 21.

  4. Erik, want to place another wager on Ole Miss W-L for 2008?

  5. Sure, but first, where do you see Ole Miss in 2008?

    My post spring analysis…

Sat, Aug 30 Memphis Oxford, Miss. W

    Sat, Sep 06 Wake Forest at Winston-Salem, N.C. L

Sat, Sep 13 Samford Oxford, Miss. W

Sat, Sep 20 Vanderbilt * Oxford, Miss. W

Sat, Sep 27 Florida * at Gainesville, Fla. L

Sat, Oct 04 South Carolina (HC) * Oxford, Miss. TOSS UP

Sat, Oct 18 Alabama * at Tuscaloosa, Ala. TOSS UP

Sat, Oct 25 Arkansas * at Fayetteville, Ark. TOSS UP

Sat, Nov 01 Auburn * Oxford, Miss. L

    Sat, Nov 15 Louisiana-Monroe Oxford, Miss. W

Sat, Nov 22 LSU * at Baton Rouge, La. L

Fri, Nov 28 Mississippi State * Oxford, Miss. W

5 wins, 4 losses and 3 Pick ’em

    Anywhere from 5-7 to 8-4

  6. Memphis – Toss Up
    Wake – Loss
    Samford – Win
    Vandy – Toss Up
    FLA – Loss
    SCAR – Toss Up
UAT – Toss Up, but leaning towards loss
    Arkansas – Toss Up
    Auburn – Loss
ULM – Win, something Bama couldn’t do
LSU – Actually going with a toss up on this one. Currently no QB for LSU and it is a rivalry game
    MSU – Toss up

Only 2 sure wins on the schedule, and I don’t see Ole Miss winning more than half of the toss ups I IDed.

  7. Memphis – Toss Up (really? Memphis couldn’t beat The Big O, but they’re gonna beat Nutt?)

UAT – Toss Up, but leaning towards loss (Bama’s won by 3 the last 3 years)

LSU – Actually going with a toss up on this one. Currently no QB for LSU and it is a rivalry game (twould be nice)

MSU – Toss up (Speaking of no quarterback, they haven’t won in Oxford in quite some time, and if not for an Ogasm, they wouldn’t have won last year)

  8. Memphis has a kid with a chip on his shoulder vs. Ole Miss. I’m expecting big things. Will keep the rest on the DL until closer to season.

UAT- Inability to beat them, that is all. And SJJPW has that ability to play like a man at times, just ask UT

State – Only Jerrell Powe can contain Dixon. No QB needed.

  9. If Powe knew how to read, he would weep after reading this

  10. The Rebels will pound Memphis senseless as Tommy West has no players and no clue. That one will be in the 40-14 range. They cannot win at Wake Forest, who has that quarterback who could pass for Eli’s twin. Archie do you know that boys momma? Vandy at home should be a win. They cannot beat Tebow at Gainesville. At Oxford they will beat the Cocks. Toss up at Alabama. They cannot beat Arkansas there if they played for a week. Nutt cannot operate in a flak jacket wearing a steel hat. Auburn is a toss up at Oxford. Pete Boone, being the biggest dipshit since Mal Moore, schedules the Nutria between Tuberfield and Miles, Ole Miss should win but the Tide Rollers got caught in the same trap, LSU will win although the Rebels play them tough at Baton Rouge. They will end the season as they started by pounding Cowshit U at Oxford, 30-0, as the Dawgs could not score on a middle school. Anthony Dixon, if he plays, will not gain 3 yards.

After going 0-8, winning one SEC game, of course, will be an improvement. They have a chance to go overall 7-5, but 6-6 is more like it. Forget Powe, that’s a political thing, but the defense will be much improved. Nutt will continue the running game with three good backs but he has a quarterback who can throw in Snead, the transfer from Texas.

My take is crafted with extreme intelligence, a sharp knowledge of the game, and superior inside information. 3DHB, countering my Ole Miss 2008 scenario puts you in a position that is likely to be very embarassing to you.

  11. Ole Miss wins 4 games at the most, and even that is a stretch. I have jumped on the Fightin’ Nutria bandwagon, and I think that the Nutria beats Ole Miss. They have the confidence after beating Alabama in front of 90,000 in T-Town. I think they will be fine playing in front of 20,000 (Grove included)…

  12. Ole Miss beats Memphis, Samford, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Nutria and Cowshit U. UAT edges them 27-24 for the trip to Shreveport.

  13. zigzag,
90% of the time Memphis and Vandy play Ole Most close, so I consider them toss-ups. Since it is near the middle of the season I will go ahead and say The Mascotless beat eUSC. State is a rivalry game, they are always close regardless of the talent level. Just ask UAT how they dominated the Barn for 3 quarters last year. So I am sticking with toss-up

And I was dead on target with my estimate of Ole Miss last year, I know the mascotless backwards and forwards. Your inside information doesn’t scare me.

  14. 6-6, too bad Nutt will stymie anything good out of Jevan. Maybe that articulate FB will have some good quotes for the local press.

  15. Ole Miss still wins the SEC (and therefore national) championship on hotties, however.

  16. 3rd Down…Do you think Ole Miss is a better team this year than they were last year? Cause if you do, they automatically win 3 more games. I think they will be significantly better…Because they have a significant quarterback. That makes all the difference in the world.

You were dead on about ole miss last year because you expected more of the same. Well, alot has changed for the better since last season (how could it not?), and there’s nowhere to go but up.

  17. Erik, yes, Ole Miss is a better team than last year. But every team in the SEC-W will be a better team than last year save LSU and Arkansas.

  18. 3rd Down is correct about Ole Miss-Memphis. Ole Miss should win the game, but Memphis always gives them a fight. If the Rebels win four games this year, it will be an accomplishment. They simply don’t have the athletes like the top tier SEC teams.

  19. We will see moondog…I would say, the only place Ole Miss is lacking the “athletes” is in the defensive backfield.

    3rd Down:

Auburn – could be a huge bust this year. Who knows about that offense and the Quarterbacks.
Alabama – better why? cause JPW’s a senior? Cause they have zero linebackers, and they lost several key defenders?
Mississippi State – They’ve been decimated by arrests and the lack of a quarterback. There is one player on that team that could start for Ole Miss.
LSU – They will just fine with that 4-star Texas QB
ARK – They could be great, could suck balls.

  20. Erik, you’re right about one thing. I assume UAT is going to be better but their offense with SJJPW or not is going to have to learn a new system since the Ginger was ran off by Lil Bear

The Barn is going to be fucking prolific on offense and there is still tons of talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Arky, they are replacing the greatest RB the SEC has ever seen not named Bo or Herschel. Petrino is still a good coach, tho.

I think you are undervaluing Cowshit U.

  21. Auburn’s defense returns 9 or 10 starters – they are going to be tough to handle. Alabama and Ole Miss seemingly have close games every year. But I do expect the Tide to win. LSU is a rivalry game, but the talent level I spoke of earlier is too great.

    Can’t wait for September!

  22. 3DHB: Put this quote in your Ole Miss Notebook: “The Rebels will beat the shit out of Memphis and Cowshit U”. Beating the shit out of them means by 21 or more points.

On the other hand I can see zero road wins for Ole Miss as well as a likely loss to Auburn in Oxford. In order for Ole Miss to win against a top tier SEC team, they must catch that team asleep as Miss State did last year at Auburn. If the Rebels stumble against Vandy and/or the Cocks, 4-8 & 1-7 could be in the cards.

Fullback Jason Cook has an IQ of 180. He should be tutoring Jerrel Powe to get him qualified although from all indications, nothing will help.

On the recruiting front, HDN has only 3 out of 31 from Mississippi.

Final analysis: Ole Miss will be much improved but because of a lack of depth, the Rebels may continue to play 3 quarter football.

  23. Auburn Grads clean my dishes Avatar
    Auburn Grads clean my dishes

    Aub fucking prolific?

    Really?

LOL, they have walkons starting at WR, a OL and RB’s who were bred and recruited for Power-I football, not some pussy pass happy offense.

Bama will be back this year son!

I see the Barn losing to terdesee,UGA,Bama and will lose to either Arky or Miss ST. like they do every other year.

The Barn will go 8-4. Bame will go 9-3 and will play either UGA or Florida, I think Richt’s team is better because they’ve got a D and Florida doesn’t.

Then in 2009 Bama will be the class of the SEC! The Bear is Back and his name is Nick Saben!

  24. Hell yes, preach it #23!

You heard it hear first, UAT vs. UFAG or UGA in the SEC CG!

  25. 23-The War Eagle will stick it up $aban’s ass again. By the way, I know that spelling is not on the short list with Bammeroids but I’m sure “the Bear that is back” would appreciate it if you spelled his name correctly.

Question: How is Bama going 9-3 when they will lose to Clemson, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU and Auburn?

  26. well he’s on the team now so you can eat your words bud

  27. ahah zigzag gr8 predictions for bama there. they rolled half those teams they were supposed to lose to. A. foster is my home boy.

  28. Man yaL need to get off that man he from my town yo child ain’t gone go to the league like he is i bet they don’t have that paper like him
