Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Stunning news, STUNNING NEWS, yet another Gate arrested. Will Caveman Noah to play ball in Europe after weed arrest in Gunsville? [Link]

Offensive Lineman Ronnie “The RifleMan” Wilson to return to the Gates [Florida Today]? He sounds a little wishy washy to me. If you lay the bar on the floor, even I could step over it [Ranking the Gates Arrests]

Meyer on Guns: “It’s one of our core values. We had a guy do it offensive lineman Ronnie Wilson was suspended in 2007 for firing an AK-47 assault rifle into the air during an altercation. He didn’t play. The University of Florida doesn’t allow guns.” [TBO]

From TBO [link], Herban seems to contradict himself on Wilson. Keep in mind that Wilson didn’t just possess a firearm or shoot it into the air for a random reason. Wilson spit on a victim, slapped him on the right side of his face inside a nightclub. Wilson then pulled into a parking lot, where he took a rifle out of his trunk and fired one shot in the air because he wanted the other man “to know how it felt to be scared.” Fearing he would be shot, the victim ducked down and put his car into reverse. As he was going backward, he heard a gunshot, the report said. Police said the victim left the parking lot and was followed by Wilson, who broke off the chase when he saw police cars. According to the report, Wilson then went to an apartment complex and hid the rifle and magazine in his cousin’s apartment, where they were recovered by police.

Wilson was arrested on aggravated assault, simple battery and the use or display of concealed weapon during the commission of a felony.

Meyer tried to get him back on the team once before, but he failed a drug test and was supposedly gone for good.

Herb has had a “policy” is that if a kid “pays his own way” (I am making air quotes with my fingers), then he will give him a chance this fall, as he would any other student. I think that Wilson has “shot”.

In theory, Jamar Hornsby, the credit card kid could follow this “policy” too. Now that the smoke has cleared, will he wear Orange and Blue again? I imagine that after he is released from prison in 2-3 years he could return to Gunsville and Meyer could “reload” at safety with Hornsby. Of course Hornsby would have to pay his way. Imagine the awkward moment at the registrar’s office when Hornsby is asked: Cash or Credit? (HT to Nole39)

Is the smoke you are referring to from a bong? A pipe? Or normal exhalation after taking a long draw on a doobie?

  3. Noah is the only person to look like a jail house ho without actually being to prison.
