Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

    Tell it like it is.

  2. I have always liked Overstreet, he seems like the kind of guy that would keep it real, now I know he is.

  3. I like people that don’t mince words. He made some good points about Georgia. The Dogs have a tough schedule and Stafford has to perform well if they are going to win the East.

  4. i dont get this ‘stafford i awful in the clutch’ theory that has been going around. he may not be a top-notch QB just yet, but thats still a ridiculous comment. Oh and can somebody tell Will Overstreet that UGA also beat Bama IN THE CLUTCH who destroyed UT later that year. Oh and that those 6 games he played in the NFL, just wow. somebody call Canton, ohio and espn. this man obviously knows what hes talking about so he deserves a regular spot on a radio show. What an idiot.

  5. But, they’ll extend their winning streak over Vandy to two…

  6. Not to tough to “step out on a limb” and say UGA is the most overrated team in the history of the universe. Everyone is saying that. He’s no pioneer on that trail.

There are some pre-season accolades, but everyone of them say UGA’s schedule is too tough for them to make it undefeated or even with 1 loss. Pre-season rankings are only relevant for the first game of the year. I’d rather read about 2008-09 post season predictions. Why tell me UGA is a pre-season #1 or #2 and then in the same article tell me that it’s not likely they’ll make it to the BCS title game?

The blasphemy that is the Big-10 automatic bid to the BCS title game has spoiled my desires to see UGA ever win a BCS MNC title. The amount of luck and alignment of the stars to steal that spot away from a team from a weak ass conference is a joke. UGA has about as much of a chance to play in the BCS title game as Ball State for totally different reasons. Don’t forget that it took a retardedly lucky Pitt win over WVU for 2-loss LSU to play in the BCS title game.

All I pull for is the greatest trophy in all of college football: The SEC title. Anything above that is not controllable.

Overstreet keeps it real. Real for his radio homers. Pandering is a great way to get free stuff from fans and sponsors. If I did a radio show in some area other than Georgia, I’d pander to that local fan base too.

I’m fine with almost everything he said there except that Richt would be on the “hot seat” if UGA doesn’t win the BCS title this year. That is an idiotic statement. Richt isn’t going anywhere for a long, long, long time for reasons on the field and off the field. Sure, some stupid internet message board rednecks will spout off and the losers that call in to radio shows on a regular basis…….no, anyone that calls in to a radio show ever is a loser, but they aren’t the relevant or majority of a fan base.
