Why all of Herban Meyer hate? I sat down trying to figure out who was a bigger douche: Herban Meyer or Nick Saban. The answer is obviously Nick Saban but I have Meyer on the brain so here is a big old gator dump on why he is so disliked:
Well how about the way he pulled a “Saban” when he left Utah comes to mind.
Saying: “I’m not leaving Utah. We’ve just started here.” on College Gameday and then immediately auditioning at Notre Dame and Florida isn’t what most would call “classy or tradtional”.
He also has facial expressions that give others the perception that he’s cocky. Kind of like Rick Pitino or Steve Spurrier, he constantly looks like he is shocked that the refs could call a penalty on UF (or not call it on an opponent), or shocked his ingenious play didn’t work. While that doesn’t MEAN he’s a jerk, it gives that impression. He’d do better with the Philip Fulmer “I can’t believe what’s happening” look of constipation, the Nick Saban “I’m in a bad mood” look (Aight?), or the Mark Richt “Is he awake?” look…. rather than the “I’m smarter than you and I can’t believe you don’t bow down to me cause I am a Deer in the Headlights” look he’s perfected.
#1. The way Herban abuses his players during the UGA game was classic. I haven’t seen that many F-bombs dropped since watching Samuel L. Jackson in any movie.
#2. Have you once heard Herban say “we got our butts beat by a better team today’?? Nope, Herban always makes some sort of excuse as to why they loss (I know he owns Fulmer).
#3 Herban runs up the scores to boost his own ego. The goal is to win the game and I understand that but Herban is just like SOS where Herban thinks by putting up more points it makes him a better coach.
#4 BONUS Herban has selective discipline when it comes to his players. It has been mentioned on another thread but most respected coaches would pull their player after some of the UF hijinx lately.
