Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Remember when?  Remember when Herb was trashing  LSU’s academic standards??  Remember the poor little kid that got his lunch money stolen by some douchebag? Yeah, turns out he’s a douchebag too.

Be careful Lane Kiffin, Trucha  Joven (google it, rednecks). So what if Meyer pees a little when he recruits someone?   He’s still got the snake oil salesman talent. Look at Nick Saban. He farts dust and he’s still a beast (at least according to rivals.com, whose COO is a flaming Bammeroid). HT YMSWWC

Reid, who was named defensive MVP in the Under Armour all-star game earlier this month, also told the newspaper he had eliminated Florida from consideration.

“It didn’t feel like home anymore,” he said. “I wish the Gators the best. It’s just not the place for me.”

Reid’s choice to eliminate Florida was at least partially due to an official visit last weekend, in which Reid said Gators coach Urban Meyer was upset about his decision to de-committ.

“He asked, ‘Where were all these other schools before the Under Armour game? Did they even know who Greg Reid was as a sophomore and junior like we did?’ (Meyer) spoke in a very powerful (tone),” Reid said, according to the newspaper.

  1. The problem with Reid is a sense of entitlement.

UF’s Defense returns all 11 starters and all 11 of their backups from a unit that ranked 9th in the country in total defense last year. Plus, Dee Finley qualified and will play next year. He was Rivals’ 6th best DB in last year’s recruiting class.

Meyer and his staff make no bones about it: If you can play, you’ll get on the field. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Freshman (See: Haden, M. Wright in 2007 and Demps, Janoris Jenkins, Will Hill, Matt Patchan, etc. in 2008.)

It’s “not the place” for Reid anymore because he wants to come in and play right away. He doesn’t want to come in and “compete” right away. Which is fine. To each is own. He sees the fact that we already have 2 great CBs in Jenkins and Haden and Finley waiting in the wings. It sucks to lose him because he’s a helluva player, but if he’d rather go somewhere else and be “the Man” on an average team instead of one Man on a great team, that’s his choice.

p.s. Great pic of a Gator and Vol living in peace.
