Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Jon Crompton came Knoxville to represent the University of Tennessee, and it is like some enjoy watching him struggle. I tend to go with the belief that my team is on the field. I will support my team and my team is the Tennessee Volunteers. I will stand behind them through tough times. I will not put them down for the sake of putting them down. When tough times come, players need support. Not for everyone to jump on their backs, our fellas will let it roll off their back like water off a duck. Fly like an eagle Jon Crompton, Fly like an eagle!!

I like our players, no matter who it is, but I will love if Crompton can overcome adversity and be the man! That’s what I’m hoping for. I know that it the feel-good story of the year. Rudy, Brian’s Song and A Man Called Horse all rolled up into one exploitation movie.  Heisman trophy comes to Knoxville; ESPN willing.

What movie star could play Crompton?  Nick Cage?  The dude from 300?  Perhaps even Kevin Bacon?

Once Crompton conquers the Gates in Gunsville…he will put his adidas clad foot on the cheating Bammeroid throat and tell the Florida Puppet, Mike Slive to go straight to hell.
