So I went to lunch with a kid our firm is recruiting who works summers at a marina on Lake Burton. Burton is a super nice lake where a bunch of celebs have houses, boats, etc.Saban and Ken Whisenhunt are two coaches who have places on Lake Burton.
Kid says Ken Whisenhunt is a super nice guy. Big tipper, always friendly, etc. IN contrast Nick Saban, is a total asshole. Hardly speaks to anyone. Gets off his boat, expects you to fill it up, goes into the store, grabs a coke, comes back, gets in his boat and leaves. Not a word. Chews tobacco and spits it all over the marina, the sidewalks, docks, pissing everyone off. They have to go behind him spraying wherever he spits. Does not tip at all. Literally does not tip one dime.
Kid said Saban’s wife is super nice. In fact, everyplace they come in for a weekend/week visit to their lake home……when they leave, Nick’s wife comes by the Marina and hands out money and says “here’s money for all the times Nick didn’t tip this week….” Last time kid said he got $200 from Mrs. Saban, which was an great tip. Nothing we didn’t already know, but I thought real a real life example was interesting.
