The comments and usernames below are real, pulled from the most influential Vols message board.
Most people see a popular Vols message board: arguments, rumors, predictions and ordinary game-week noise. But beneath that public chatter may be something more — an open exchange of back-channel intelligence and coordination, with the season’s biggest game potentially hanging in the balance.
If the operation is what it appears to be, the board may have just assured a win over the No. 1 team in America.
At 8:26 Tuesday morning, RDVOL started a message board thread titled: “At UGA 2021-2025, Muschamp knows the recipe to stop Heupel’s offense.”
Then, in case Will Muschamp had misplaced the recipe, RDVOL posted it for him:
“The past is the past. Personnels are different. Teams are different. Tweaks and adjustments have been made. But the core is still the core…if you muddy up the interior run game and take away the deep ball, Heupel’s offense tends to struggle.”
Normal game-week message-board behavior is to accuse the other team of stealing signals. Our guys have moved directly to a public briefing.
Or maybe that’s the point.
After the interlocking T thread, the odd timing, and the useful and useless scraps of information drifting across the board all week, I’m no longer convinced we’re watching carelessness.
ABVAVOL immediately threw sand in the gears:
“Thanks. Taking away the run game and the deep ball are unique ways to win on defense.”
Good. Mock the first briefing. Make it look stupid.
OakVol then simplified it:
“Stop the run and make Faizon beat you with his arm is all they will do.”
Perfect. Give Texas lurkers the obvious answer. Let them think they have the answer.
Then Just_the_Tip introduced a problem:
“Heupel offense has changed quite a bit since then and Muschamp was just an analyst at UGA in 24-25.”
Now the recipe may be obsolete.
BigOrangeRusty followed with: “Our offense isn’t remotely similar to what it was pre ’25.”
Now it is definitely obsolete.
That is how this works, if this is what I think it is. First hand Austin a scouting report. Then quietly invalidate the scouting report. Leave just enough truth in both versions that nobody knows which one is bait.
RDVOL kept going. He produced a 34-0 stat for Tennessee before Georgia’s first score over five games, then carefully noted: “We aren’t playing Georgia and Muschamp wasn’t the play calling DC during any of that time.”
It is a Gatlinburg Hall of Mirrors.
Then 13MariettaVol added: “WR better be ready to be physical because he coaches his DB’s to grab and then grab some more.”
SysVol explained that Tennessee now works the middle and underneath and is not dependent on deep shots. LittleBuddy10 announced that Brandon’s ability to hit the screen pass, get the ball outside, or run under pressure “is big the key to the game.”
By 10:13 AM, the board had publicly published the defensive recipe, the offensive counters to the defensive recipe, the reasons the recipe no longer applies, and the quarterback escape plan.
Will Muschamp could read this thread and come away with a complete Tennessee scouting report.
Or seven mutually exclusive ones.
Then 901_Vol dropped the cleanest line:
“One thing Muschamp doesn’t have this go around, Kirby Smart.”
There it is. A fact, a warning, a taunt, maybe a decoy. Impossible to tell now.
