Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

  1. Great post. Thanks for putting this up. Last week, I posted a story kind of poking fun at VT but I think this tragedy certainly transcends sports and I would encourage everyone to do whatever they can. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those in Blacksburg. Go Hokies!

  2. I was reading the West Virginia message board yesterday, and there were nine pages of thoughts for their former Big East foe. When it comes down to it, people really care, rivalries be damned.

  3. Living in Virginia, and visiting the Virginia Tech campus on a regular basis, going to several sports events throughout the year, I’m certainly stunned, shocked, and was literally shaking yesterday from all of this.
