Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykin”: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

I hate those two goofs. Joe Buck is equally as annoying. I either watch the games on mute or in spanish with SAP when I’m stuck with these guys calling the games. Thats right, I would rather listen to a language that I barely understand than listen to those idiots on a fool’s errand.  All night long they (ESPN) showed replays of the almost fight. Almost as if they were hoping for a brawl. [Yahoo]

Now Cubs fans can add a new excuse for losing: The umps are out to get them. It is pathetic to spend a shit load of money on free agents and have nothing to show for it. The highlight of the season is Pinella is getting tossed arguing a call that he was wrong about.

A little background:

Two days ago, Tim Hudson hit the first hitter for the Cubs. He wasn’t ejected.

Last night, two outs in the first, Ted Lilly of the Cubs hits Edgar Renteria with a pitch. He got ejected.

Since then, Miller and Morgan haven’t shut up about it. Joe Morgan is another clearcut case of an athlete that should have never been transitioned to the booth.

I saw it happen, Lilly didn’t make any gestures and he damn sure didn’t say anything to the ump. Barrett was the one who followed the umpire to first base, and ESPN had the umpire miked up. When Piniella asked the ump how he knew that Lilly tried to hit him, the ump said something along the lines of “I knew he did, I was waiting for it.”

If any disciplinary action is warranted it should be against the home plate umpire for completely overstepping his bounds.
