Review of “Bama Profiles in Courage: Laykinâ€: (Capers) Barr flexes through an emotional range that most writers would never dare attempt … Humor and Bama sorrow are fused together like twined tree trunks that keep each other standing…..It’s part satire, part character study, with a wry lens on fame, fandom, and the modern South. Well done, Capers, well done.”– Ian Allen, The Times Literary Supplement.

Update July 16, 2007…Demps to rejoin the depleted Gator Defense [Link]

Update as of July 6th, Where have they all gone????Herban??? [link]

UPDATE JULY 2, 2007 – Gator Site hacked and Herban the Dicsiplinarian deals it out on Brandon [Top 1% of 1%]. Go Gators!!!

Just the other day, I noticed that Larry Brown Sports [link] had ranked the Cincinnati Bengals arrests from best to worst. I thought that it was criminal that the NFL’s most prolific criminal enterprise get all of the headlines.

I believed that the Florida Gators have earned some glory too. So, I asked Larry Brown if he cared if we ranked the Gators criminal enterprise like he had ranked the Bengals. He said, “just send me the link to the post”.

I tried to make a top 10, from best to worst or is it worst to best (I got confused)…. But there were so many heinous crimes/assaults/stabbings/shootings and theft that I had to list some evil-doing as honorable mention. Like the “Its good to be Chris Rainey” recruitment or the mysterious throat slashing keg stealer.

And yes Canes and Noles, I know that some of the lesser crimes just did not make this list. I was tired of researching and writing.

Here are my top 10:

1. After Jarvis “Puffy” Moss jumped up (Ganja increased his vertical by 18″) and salvaged the croc’s season against the Gamecocks by blocking a last second field goal attempt, it was revealed he to also failed a drug test during the summer as the clock ticked to zero. Guess what game he missed? The showdown between top ranked UF versus division 1AA Western Carolina.

2. Gator great, Marcus “Medicinal Puff” Thomas – a multiple drug test failure, pot and GHB. Gator fans tried to convince us all it was from the same test… then the truth came out, near the end of the season with his dismissal from the team. Moss and Thomas were both drafted by the Broncos. WTF was Shanahan thinking?

3. Baby Momma Slappin Avery Atkins. The alleged victim, Benerah Sanford, told police: She and Atkins argued Saturday on a drive to Atkins’ grandmother’s house. Atkins leaned over and punched her at least 13 times, and pushed her face against the car’s window while he conversed with relatives. Every time Sanford tried to exit the car, Atkins either punched her or stepped on the gas. When the pair finally arrived at Atkins’ home, she ran off and called the police.
Earlier this month, Atkins was found in a car in Daytona Beach with weed, gun and digital scales. To top it off, it was not his car. He had enrolled in UF in January with plans to “fight his way back to the cornerback slot.”

4. Brandon James a football player and Brandon Powell who coincidently is the basketball player who sucker punched the Vandy student in the back of the head [link], were found together in Gainesville with…. you guessed it: marijuana in the car during an undercover “buy bust”. One felony and one misdemeanor — purchase of a controlled substance and possession of >20 grams of marijuana — suspended indefinitely.

5. WR Riley Cooper smashed a windshield, welcome the perfect gater. And just who is Jasim Alidina? Adlina was the victim of Freshman Riley Cooper’s flailing haymaker through his car window. While Alidina survived the incident, remarkably unscathed, neither Cooper nor the car were as lucky. Cooper was taken to the Morton Plant Hospital.

6. Florida defensive back Dorian Munroe charged with felony for removal of parking boot and placing it in his trunk. This was later ironed out as expected as UF is thin at the corner. One felony — theft of a police metal parking boot from his car

7. At Da Club, Ronnie “The Rifleman†Wilson slaps some guy, then spits on him, then ends it by shooting at him, luckily police actually stepped in one time before he killed that guy. two felonies and one misdemeanor — gun in a parking lot near campus — suspended indefinitely

8. LB Dusty “Rhodes” Doe, pummels some dude (ala Channing the Chainsaw Crowder) in a Alaucha County vs. Pasco County gang fight (Reds vs. Crips style). Punishment? No suspension from Meyer. Doe to face the (Jaws intro theme) Leadership Committee. one misdemeanor — disorderly conduct for parking garage brawl

9. The 7-Man shower Self shooting gun incident, Gator players led by Dee Webb, Andre “Bubba” Caldwell and Reggie Lewis had a $60,000 SUV loaded with improperly registered AK’s and other machine guns… and they were all drunk while shooting at apartment windows for fun. Of course initially nobody took the blame and they all said they were in the shower (together) and that the gun must have shot itself… Gators went with the deniable plausibility angle when Dee Webb shot off his arsenal saying he had already declared for the draft, so he was no longer a Gator.

T10. Dallas “Bike Taker” Baker, steals a bike, but when cops questioned him, Dallas said, “heck man, I just thought the bike was ‘abandoned’”. The sophomore was issued a sworn complaint from UPD as an officer stopped Baker near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (which is a great place to take a deuce). Baker said he was late for an appointment and picked up an abandoned bicycle. Misdemeanor!!!

T10. Linebacker Taurean Charles. A UF student said Charles touched her against her will, the sworn complaint issued by the university police department said. Charles allegedly slammed her on the bed and onto a computer desk, picked her up over his head and threw her down on her roommate’s bed, according to the complaint. Charles was later dismissed from the Florida team.

Who is worse? Florida or Montana? [link]

Honorable Mention

Nyan (Cap’n Stabbin) Boateng gets into a heated arguement with some chick, a knife fight breaks out, Nyan Dogg ends up bloodied on the floor, luckily he was still alive.

“Nyan has some issues he is dealing with, and in the meantime, he will not participate in any team activities,” Florida spokesman Steve McClain said.

WR Percy Harvin, the star of the 2006 recruiting class, is a guy who was banned from Virginia High School sports. Why? Because he slugged a ref and had been involved in numerous brawls.

Chris Rainey and other recruits brag about how many gifts and wads of cash advances they are getting from Gator Alumni/Boosters… Cash, Jewelry, and throwback jerseys. But he was just joking. Ha Ha Ha.

Joakim Noah swipes at Vandy cheerleader [link], and later confronts the Vandy coach! That will show her and him. They were gatorbait!

Two Gator linebackers Darryl Gresham Jr. and Jon Demps go up in smoke, Cheech and Chong style, suspended from team on National Signing Day. Suspension/dismissals free up crucial scholarships for incoming Blue Chip recruits. Linebacking now a concern.

The unknown 6’4″ 280 pounder. A University of Florida student claimed a Gator football player stole his beer keg from the back of his truck which was heavily damaged as his head hit it. The student had a knot on his head and his neck was slashed by a ring. This was reported to the police as per a story in the Florida Alligator. This story quickly vanished. The student got his keg back and continued scraping the paint out of the knot on his head (legend says that the student now has a full scholarship!!)

    Wah!

Sorry the Gators don’t live up to the example that UT has set for us (i.e. last years off season in Knoxville).

I would refute some of those top 10 individually, but what’s the point. I’m in enemy territory. I will say that 5 of the people above were kicked off the team and another 2 are so recent that a punishment hasn’t been decided yet.

    Nice slant though, you hack.

  4. Weak.

I thought this was the Top 10 “Arrests”? Your Top Two weren’t even arrests (neither was the Dallas Baker incident which I had never heard of before this “article”?) And you’re reaching way back to the Zook years for the Taurean Charles incident. So that’s 6 Arrests – Still way short of UT’s 11 Arrests in 13 months.

Like I’ve been saying, this is just more of a desperate attempt of the UT fans to scream — “Nuh-uh, we ain’t dat bad! (spit tobacco) Duh Gators done got players dat get arrested, too!” It’s just a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Actually, it’s a good thing Florida is winning the SEC, Winning National Titles, and having players get arrested. I mean, without all of that going on you’d have nothing to fuckin’ write about in your blog.

    INCIDENT ENDS GRADDY’S UF CAREER

Orlando Sentinel – Published on 08/11/99

GAINESVILLE – This time, Rod Graddy didn’t need to get in trouble. Just being around it was enough to end his University of Florida football career.

Graddy, a junior strong safety and the Gators’ lone full-time starter returning from last year’s defense, was kicked off UF’s team for his involvement in the aftermath of a robbery in downtown Gainesville last weekend, school sources said.

February 1999 – (Source, CBS Sportline)- Former UF football players Tim Beauchamp and Dock Pollard have been named in an investigation for accepting cash from a sports agent during the past football season. The school suspended Beauchamp and Pollard on Dec. 28, before the Orange Bowl, for a violation of university rules. UF officials did not go public with incident until February, 10, nearly three months after the incident and a week after national signing day.

A recruiter for agent William “Tank” Black, who heads operations at Professional Management Inc., (“PMI”) of Columbia , S.C. , reportedly has been accused by agents of trying to bribe a Louisiana State assistant coach into funneling a top NFL prospect to PMI. PMI represents ex-UF players Fred Taylor, Reidel Anthony, Ike Hilliard and Jacquez Green, as well as outgoing Gators Jevon Kearse, Mike Peterson, Reggie McGrew and Johnny Rutledge.

January, 1999 – (Source, AP) Tight end Dwight Edge, 20, of Apopka was arrested and charged with felony aggravated stalking. University officials dismissed Edge from school soon after his arrest. September, 1995 (Source: Sun-Sentinel [Ft. Lauderdale Fla. ]) – Ernie Badeaux serves a one-game suspension for hitting another student in the back of his head.

August, 1995 (Source: Sports Illustrated) – Sports Illustrated runs an article where it described the UF football program as “a football program plagued with domestic violence problems among its players.” The article focused on the mild sentences imposed on Johnie Church and Teako Brown for domestic violence assaults. Both players were only suspended for the season opener at Houston for their alleged actions. The article read: “The Florida football program, which does not have to meet the same standards as the judicial system, suspended Church and Brown for one game–a game in which the Gators will likely be no less than a four-touchdown favorite…. That penalty is considerably lighter than the one Spurrier levied against reserves Darren Hambrick and Anthony Riggins after the two fought at a banquet last New Year’s Eve; they were dismissed from the team. Thus Florida seems to be sending the message that domestic violence isn’t even as serious as an intrasquad scuffle.”

July, 1995 (Source: Sun-Sentinel [Ft. Lauderdale Fla. ])- Four University of Florida football players, including starting wide receiver Reidel Anthony and tailback Fred Taylor, were charged for fraudulent use of a credit card. Had the credit-card charges totaled more than $100, it would have been a felony. The misdemeanor charge carried a maximum sentence of one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. The pizza orders -made over the telephone on four separate occasions with Pizza Hut, Papa John’s and Hungry Howie’s – were placed from and delivered to the UF campus, police said.

May, 1995 (Source: Sun-Sentinel [Ft. Lauderdale Fla. ])- Teako Brown was arrested aggravated battery against his pregnant girlfriend. Charges against Brown were dismissed after hisgirlfriend changed her account of the incident.

January, 1995 (Source: Various) – In a dining room of the Superdome in New Orleans, the Gators were having a last supper on the eve of a Sugar Bowl matchup with Florida State, and Hambrick, who was seeing increasingly more time on the field, particularly in passing situations, got into a heated exchange with teammate Anthony Riggins. There was a scuffle. Then a brawl.Riggins, a seldom-used linebacker, got the worst of it and was admitted to Tulane University Medical Hospital for treatment of a deep facial gash. He would later have hours of surgery.

April, 1994 (Source: St. Petersburg Times) – Running back Tony Davis was arrested for holding his girlfriend over the railing of her fourth-floor dormitory balcony and threatening to let her go;five months later he pleaded no contest to two counts of battery and was expelled from school for endangering a student’s safety. He also had an outstanding warrant in Alachua County for violation of probation, but has not been charged. Davis was placed on probation in 1993 for driving with a suspended license.

April, 1994 (Source: Sports Illustrated) – According to a police report, six witnesses saw wide receiver Aubrey Hill strike a Gainesville woman in the head, knocking her to the ground. The woman in Hill’s case declined to press charges.

Winter, 1989 (Source, Various) – Four football players from the University of Florida, including star-quarterback-to-be Shane Matthews, then a redshirt freshman, were suspended for betting on football games

Ian Skinner- spent 15 days in jail for driving on a suspended license… he failed two drug tests during his playing days, one for Ecstasy before he finally transferred.

Zac Zedalis- suspended for having a gun in his dorm room… sent death threat letter to a Central Michigan player

Ryan Kalich- arrested for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

Dwight Edge- arrested and charged with felony aggravated stalking, his second violent offense in less than a year.. also arrested for battery on a fellow student. It was after the stalking incident that Spurrier added his infamous quote in Jan 1999, “I can assure all Gators that those players who cause embarrassment to our team and university will not play for us.†LOL!!! Fred Taylor- charged with one count of felony dealing in stolen property for the stolen textbooks and eventually pled down to a misdemeanor theft. His remorse for this situation as to state, “I still feel like I didn’t do nothing. I think the county just wanted the money.â€, referring to the $108 fine…… Charged with misdemeanor for his role in Pizzagate, where he and several teammates found a credit card number and used it to buy pizza. Taylor and the others received no suspension from Coach Spurrier and played in several games before the judicial affairs committee stepped in and gave them a game. Before the season and the suspension, Spurrier said, “They got their sentence. It’s a secret. They are all scheduled to play. That’s all we need to tell you about it. We’ll handle it internally.†The Sarasota Herald-Tribune said trouble seems to cling to Taylor like dirt on a little boy. The LA Times said Spurrier kept saving his trouble prone back, getting him out of the administration office and back onto the field.

Willie Jackson- arrested for felony battery on a law enforcement officer when he was prevented from entering the student section for Gator Growl. One officer had to be taken to the hospital for facial bruising and a shoulder injury… he was suspended for all of one game and was actually allowed to play in one game after the incident.

Jaime Richardson- It only took two separate felonies before Jaime was kicked off the team. He committed a felony by throwing a deadly missile into an occupied structure and hit a person inside. It seems he was mad that he had to pay a cover charge to get into the place. His next felony was aggravated battery when he hit a guy over the head with a pool stick. He was also involved in Pizzagate and the misdemeanor from that.

Teako Brown- Involved in Pizzagate and that misdemeanor… Arrested on felony aggravated battery charges after slapping his 8-month pregnant girlfriend and throwing her to the ground. Spurrier decided to play hardball on this felony and gave him a one game suspension. After Brown’s and Johnnie Mitchell’s one game suspension for their incidents, Sports Illustrated criticized Spurrier saying , “seems to be sending the message domestic violence isn’t even as serious as an intrasquad scrimmage.†Atta boy Spurs!!!!

Elijah Williams- Charged with felony sexual battery, charged with misdemeanor for lying to police during the investigation. Was placed on probation by the university, however was never suspended by Spurs.

Johnnie Church- arrested on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting a prostitute (could never find any suspension for this)… Arrested on battery domestic violence charges when he grabbed his wife by the neck and threw her around the bedroom, which left a bruise on her neck. He was quoted as saying, “It wasn’t any brutal violence. I know it wasn’t anything big.†Spurrier, in another get tough stance, suspended him for a game.

Ernie Badeaux- Participated in a barroom brawl, in which he broke his hand. While get tough Spurrier only suspended him for one game, the university made it 6 games. He was kicked off the team for an undisclosed violation in 1997. Spurs must have swept a big one under the rug there.

Reidel Anthony- involved in a misdemeanor with Pizzagate. Get tough Spurs gave no suspension.

Derrick Corker- charged with battery domestic violence and criminal mischief involving a disagreement over a game of Monopoly. Corker grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and threw her to the ground.

Tony Davis- arrested on felony sexual battery and aggravated assault charges. He attempted to throw a girl over a 4th floor railing of her dormitory. The next morning he returned, forced his way into her dorm room, and raped her. At the time, he had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. He was also arrested for driving on a suspended license. He eventually left school.

Aubrey Hill- arrested on domestic violence charges

Lito Sheppard- Lito failed a drug test for marijuana. It seems as if failed drug tests disappear when your team could be without both starting corners and your first game is against a pass happy Marshall team. It was rumored, but never proven, that he was with Jabar when he raided the locker room.

Jabar Gaffney- Part of UF’s first family of crime… perhaps one of the most notorious criminals ever at UF, but only because he was never punished by UF for his crimes. He committed two felonies when he burglarized a high school teams locker room and stole money and a watch. The situation got worse when there ultimately never any punishment for the legend dubbed “Jaburglar Gafelonyâ€. He was “kicked off†the team, but allowed to stay on scholarship the following spring. When Spurrier unexpectedly lost two receivers to the NFL draft, Mr. Win at all Costs Spurrier had a sudden change of heart and allowed him to return to the team. However, he was off scholarship and in the doghouse. To this day, no one can tell me where he was working so he could pay for school when he wasn’t on scholarship. The alleged “doghouse†resulted in him being the 3rd string receiver by the time the season started and starting by the 3rd game. How could Spurs have been so harsh????? His scholarship was, of course, given back…. In a rather ironic twist, Gaffney beat a child that was trying to steal from him. Gaffney is the defendant in a civil suit as a result of excessive force. It seems this child, who was 14, was such a force that Gaffney, Bam Hardmon, and another player, all players on the UF football team could barely restrain him. (Riiiggghhttt…wink) Bam had to kick the child 3 times and kicked him three times so hard, it caused a stress fracture in his leg. When asked if the police should be called, Gaffney responded, “Hell no†and proceeded to try and drown the child in nearby lake. The child is alleging neurological injury from the beating….. Gaffney also started a brawl on Bourbon Street with U of M players because he couldn’t handle being called names by them. Realizing he needed every player to have any chance of beating Miami , Spurrier, Mr. Win at all Costs, suspended no one for the melee….. The funniest thing is that Jaburglar received more punishment for a throat slash gesture (1/2 game), than any of the above. (Spurrier at his finest!!!!!)

Rod Graddy- driver of a get away car after two men robbed a man of a $1200 bracelet. As Timothy Taylor entered the car, he pointed a gun at two men chasing him. When pulled over, Graddy told police Taylor had thrown the gun out the window. Graddy failed two drug tests while at UF.

Gerard Warren- arrested for possession of marijuana…. Taken into custody in handcuffs for his part in the brawl with UM….. you think he missed any game time for the brawl…….NO WAY baby!!!!

Clint Mitchell- has failed several drug tests while at UF, the second one rumored to be for cocaine… also implicated in a sexual battery… after sitting out for most of the season, he made it back only to be suspended for the rest of the year for reasons Spurrier has kept hidden

Kyle Morris- gambling on college and profession sports, testimony entered said he spent between $300 to $1500 a week gambling, and on more than one occasion included the Gators on his betting slip

Shane Matthews- implicated in gambling with Morris

Brady Ackerman- implicated in gambling with Morris

    G. Mangus- implicated in gambling with Morris

Tony McCoy- charged with felony counts of sexual battery and aggravated battery

    Anthony Mitchell- misdemeanor battery charge

Darren Hambrick/Anthony Riggins- involved in a very violent fight with each other, Hambrick used a broken glass on Riggins face, that ultimately required reconstructive surgery. Both players ended up at the hospital.

Terrence Foy- unknown what his transgressions were. First hit with a one game suspension. Then he was hit with a 5 game suspension. He was then suspended for a the whole year and it was unknown if it was for another violation, or an extension of the 5 game. He left school the following spring. Based on the number of games involved for each one, it appears drugs. However, nothing could be confirmed.

Players known to have been involved with agents are Ike Hilliard, Jevon Kearse, Jacquez Green, Mike Peterson, Reggie McGrew, Johnny Rutledge, Keith Council, Tim Beauchamp, Mo Collins, and Tony George

There have also been a host of other players suspended, but Spurs managed to keep the reasons quiet, such as Nafis Karim, Eugene McCaslin, Travis Caroll, Kavin Walton, Mike Moten, to name a few.

Bryan Savelio – Florida defensive end Bryan Savelio and his wife, Luisa, were involved in a domestic dispute. Luisa Savelio said she slapped her husband after he repeatedly called her derogatory names and he slapped her back. Florida coach Ron Zook said Savelio, who has played in all eight games and started in six, is not suspended and will play Saturday.

    Reid Fleming –

Clint Mitchell – During the 2001 season , Mitchell missed the first six games and the final four of the season because of campus and University Athletic Association rules. Mitchell was accused of committing sexual battery against a female UF student in July of 2001. The attack allegedly took place on 06/20/2001 in the early morning hours. Mitchell’s lawyer, Tom Edwards, claims that the incident consisted of consensual sex and the investigation is expected to take about 30 days to be completed. However, the incident appeared to be unrelated to Mitchell’s six-game suspension for the 2001 season. His attorney was quoted in the Gainesville Sun as saying, “That suspension is not a result of these allegations. He has other problems with the university. Those problems are not a result of this allegation.” He was suspended for six weeks at the beginning of his sophomore season for violating university policy. Shortly after he was reinstated, he was suspended again for another violation of university policy. Mitchell started in all 12 games he played and was considered UF’s best defensive lineman during the 2002 season. “I want to thank my parents and brother for their support the last several years,” Mitchell said. “I would also like to thank coach Ron Zook and coach Red Anderson for their support this past season. I will be forever grateful to them for helping me get back on the field.”

Kennard Ellis Jr. – University of Florida defensive end Kennard Ellis Jr. was charged with drug possession after deputies found him smoking marijuana in a car. Ellis was charged late Thursday with a single felony count of possession of marijuana. He was booked, jailed and later released. Deputies spotted Ellis and a friend in a car smoking marijuana after they received a phone call about a domestic disturbance, according to the charging affidavit. Smoke was coming from a partially-open window. When a deputy patted down Ellis, she found 32.2 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag in his front pocket, according to the affidavit. No one answered the phone at Florida ‘s sports information office after hours. Ellis has an unlisted phone number in Orlando . Ellis’ arrest was made public the same day Steve Spurrier announced he was resigning as Florida ‘s coach.

Kelvin Kight – Three members of the University of Florida football team face notices to appear in court from the University Police Department for possession of alcohol for someone under the age of 21 and violation of the open container law. According to the UPD report, Gator football players Kelvin Kight, Sylvester McGrew, and Maurice Mitchell were all given notices to appear in court concerning their charges. The alleged incident took place late Saturday night near Fraternity Row and The Springs Complex on the University of Florida campus. The UPD report states that there were four illegally parked vehicles near the Springs Complex with several people standing around the vehicles. One of the vehicles allegedly belonged to Mitchell and UPD officers found an open bottle of vodka in the car. Mitchell and Kight are starters for the Gator football team while McGrew is a reserve defensive lineman. It remains to be seen what punishment, if any, is given to the players by Gator football coach Ron Zook.

  6. Again, UT were the Pioneers in Player arrests.

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/sec/2005-07-26-tennessee-offseason_x.htm

    From 7.27.2005:
    ———-
“But during the last 16 months, players frequently have fallen through. Tennessee football players have been in at least 20 incidents involving shoplifting, assault, gun charges, motor vehicle citations, disturbing the peace and failing a drug test.

Even after coach Phillip Fulmer gathered his players for a meeting during spring practice in April and told them the bad behavior had to stop, linebacker Daniel Brooks and defensive back Corey Campbell were suspended after off-field incidents.

Brooks pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license and three other charges were dismissed by a Knox County General Sessions Court judge. Brooks will miss the first three games this season.”
    ———-

For those of you keeping score at home, that’s a whopping 22 in 16 Months!

    So basically, STFU!

  7. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Before University of Tennessee football players get a playbook, they get a Think Card. It is an orange card small enough to fit into their wallets. On the front it says, “THINK,” followed by a series of questions designed to help the player assess his behavior and make the appropriate decision.

On the back of the card are the home and cell phone numbers of the Tennessee coaching staff so players can call for help.

The Think Card is part of a safety net of counselors, tutors and role models the university has been constructing since 1995 after eight football players had run-ins with the law in a one-year span.

Doesn’t do any fuckin’ good when your players can’t read, Phil.

  20. Just FYI, I don’t think any guns mentioned were Class III full-auto guns, what you called “machine guns” were likely semi-auto rifles. Also, Florida has no firearm registration requirements so how could they have been “improperly registered” ? Possession of long arms is legal for anyone over 18, for handguns 21.

  21. King, with a bit of “know-how”, how easy is it to go fully auto?

Just for giggles, why would Wilson go clubbing with an AK?

  22. […] Related link Gator Top 10 Arrests [link]  […]

  23. Apparently, Jai, you haven’t been clubbing in G’ville or you would know why you would need firearms to go out. Not only do you have doped up and armed UF footballers to fend off, you have those crazy UF parking patrol officers who’ll do anything to put a boot on your legally parked car.

Shoot 1st and ask questions later. That’s how we do it in Gainesville (in my best tranny, cheerleader swattin’ Joakim voice).

  24. Now if Florida could just get one of our 300 pound D lineman to cave in a guys face in a pick up basketball game over a foul, on camera, then we could suspend him a few games like UT did.

  25. When a UF plyer gets busted fo seling crack then we can have this conversation, until then UT players can continue haing other students do there school work and having crack babies. OUT.

  26. #25, are you retarded? Fulmer dismissed the kid and didn’t look for reasons to keep him…like Meyer?

  27. You don’t want to set a precedent and then have to reverse it because you need a player. Lets say you decide to suspend James for 5 games for smoking pot. What if Harvin or Tebow gets caught are you going to throw away the whole season for a first time offense when half the people on campus are doing the same thing…No. So first offense for a crime that doesn’t hurt anyone is going to be a slap on the wrist.

  28. why do you not agree with meyers approach? he suspended moss for a couple games, and look at that turn around. he suspended MT for a couple and then gave him another chance, but as soon as he screwed up again, he booted him. Hes trying to make a positive impact on these players, while not being too lenient. as far as James goes, I don’t think he should have bought weed, but then I look at how he was caught, a reverse sting which I believe to be dirty police work, which puts a person in a position to buy in which they might not have been in. a normal sting takes out the dealers that already had the drugs and were going to distribute. I think the punishment fits the crime. and you can be sure, if he does it again, meyer wont’ be so lenient

never thought I’d see the day

Yeah, I never thought I would see the day when the UT fanbase blasted other schools for their players off the field behavior. The fact that whoever wrote this got on Durian for taking the boot off of his car shows how ridiculousof a stretch this whole thing is…every single person on this site that went to college (so basically none of the UT fans here) can empathize with his situation; most of the things he mentioned weren’t even prosecuted as crimes.

Go back to giving Clint Stoerner blow jobs everyday and worry about your coach’s impending cardiac arrest.

  33. Well that day is here fuk-tard. Clean up your program. Speaking of blowjobs, what was the Arkie return man that fumbled the punt? or the ref that didn’t call LSU’s Hester no-TD call?

At least our coach has hair on his peaches. Curtis Leak said that Meyer looks like a ken doll down there

  34. dude. its pot. it’s not cocaine. it’s not heroin. it’s not meth. its pot. freakin pot. its the drug kids do when they’re scared to do anything else. it’s the wimp of all drugs. it makes you tired and light headed. and in the next 10 years it will most likely be legal in most states. meyer knows this. everyone knows this.

pot is bad for public relations and thats it. a one game suspension and a possiblity of losing his scholarship is huge for doing something as minimal as buying a joint.

  35. never thought I'd see the day Avatar
never thought I’d see the day

Umm Hester didn’t score…let’s place blame where blame is due; if JaMarcus could take a snap it would be a moot point. Furthermore, that game wasn’t close…Gators by 13 while letting the clock run out deep in LSU territory.

As for the ARK game, to compare that to Stoerner is absurd. UF won that game by a decent margin. Yes, that play was arguably a turning point, but to suggest that ARK would have for sure won had it not happened is unrealistic.

On the other hand if Stoerner takes a knee and Arkansas punts the game is over…end of story.

the ’98 vols were the worst national champs of the last thirty years (argument to be made for ’92 tide); the UF game that year was a joke (two fumbles insside the ten and a CC shank), Stoerner and the luck of facing Outzen in the National Championship…I honestly think it was a team of destiny.

It was nice to see Tee Martin do something Peyton could not, beat UF and win a national title. Tee Martin is Tennessee football and that is something that will erk yall until the end of time.

Not sure what LSU game you were watching. Hester was clearly in the end zone. And yes, the hogs were whipping UF’s ass until the punt.

Don’t you remember Meyer burned up all of his timeouts trying to decide whether to punt or not? I never saw a man (besides les miles) so completely out of his element as Meyer was at that moment.

    So lets recap:

    The Hester TD
The QB roughing call against UT
    The Hogs fumble
Moss playing while high on weed/blocking the USC FG

That my friend is homecooking’s team of destiny

    Orgeron:

Are you mad that the UT player who roughed Leak had such a lack of judgement and his mistake cost the team so dearly or are you suggesting that it was bad call. It was clearly a roughing the passer penalty; 100 out of 100 objective people would agree.

Florida definintely won some nail biters and was on the fortunate end of some breaks like the Arkansas game (I honestly believe that Hester didn’t get in) and the SC game with Moss. However, at no poin was there anything reminisant of the stupidity and lack of execution exemplified by Clint on that Saturday in ’98. TAKE A KNEE AND ITS OVER. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.

I wish you and the David Cutcliffe coached Vols the best of luck this season.

  39. I find it a bit surprising that the UF fans defense in all of this is that UT has more arrests. Any arrests are bad. Granted, the UT people maybe should be pointing fingers, but for the UF fans to think that they are in the clear until their players do things as bad as UT, you guys are nuts. “Oh, it’s okay if our guys drive around high and carrying guns, at least they aren’t selling crack.” If you don’t see the problem in this, you are a terrible college football fan.

what you are experiencing here is vintage college football board work known as the “Florida Bait ‘n Switch.”

In this maneuver, Florida Fans enact a wholesale takeover of the thread, insulting everyone not for Florida for no less than one hundred comments using profanity, affronts to class and values, incomprehensible slang, and occasionally the scores and results of various games.

If you were physically present they would pour urine on your head and tell you that it Motts Apple Juice

I mean I am a gator fan, and proud of it, and I make no excuse for this type of behavior by a student athlete, or anyone for that matter. But come on, put the wrap sheet of any college up against the University of Florida’s, and you will see the same things on each of them. I am not saying that any of these acts are forgiveable, but I am sure everyone at UT has forgiven Leaonard Little for his little DUI’s, even though they are after his playing time there, and FSU, do I need to mention Peter Warrick. Don’t be a hypocrite, all major schools have their bad marks. Don’t hate, just because one school has exceeded the others in the athletic accolades.

Also, “Ron Zook’s Pecker is Huge” is using the SAME EXACT copy-and-paste that was shredded on one of UT’s message boards before the national championship game. For God’s sake, after something like that happens, you think someone would be checking for fact errors. lol

A third of those files were never charged, others were charges dropped… I know UT conspiracy theory, “of course the charges were dropped, they were Gators”, but that doesn’t explain why they would STILL seek convictions on the ones who were prosecuted. Ernie Badeaux, Marcus Thomas, Avery Atkins, Tauren Charles, Anthony Riggins, Darren Hambrick, Kenneth Tookes, Dwight Edge…etc.. were ALL kicked off the team, some were All-American/All-SEC type players.

In addition, lol I will agree with one post here who said that the top 10 list is BS, even the honorable mentions. Harvin wasn’t prohibited from basketball because he was a thug, he never punched anyone and he was actually receiving threats from students/players at other schools. He quit basketball for his own safety.

  51. @50 your comments are bullshit. I will agree that the players dismissed were good players that had to be dismissed by Florida. Only after they played the big games (Marcus Thomas/Jarvis Moss\Brandon James).

It is odd that Gators can commit crimes that would ordinarily land John Q. Public in jail, but nothing ever happens to Gators. Not saying that witnesses/victims are intimidated or paid off (the most recent keg incident). I am just saying that is weird/strange/odd/peculiar in a RICO kinda of way.

  57. i bet if 1,000’s of UF fans would stop threatening everyones lives… that a hell of a lot more arrests would come out… everyones afraid to report a UF player because the UF fans are so fucking stupid… u guys treat your players well above the law… they can do anything and get away with it… its common practice… at Tennessee if someone does something minor hes looking to get kicked off the team… at UF he might miss a half or a game against a FBS team. at tennessee hell we cant do that because we dont play 1AA teams… we play teams that are actually good out side of the SEC if meyer could he would pull out of the sec and go the ND route and play !AA’s all year and then navy, army, stanford, buffalo, and such… u UF people are fucking pathetic

  58. Dude…funny article. But umm the whole Avery Atkins…way to make light of a HORRIBLE situation. For those of you that read the number 3 and laughed and imagined the cops rolling up and finding him high in a stolen car with a gun. He was found in his Aunt’s driveway DEAD inside HIS car. His death is still under investigation due to unusual circumstances with foul play suspected. You should really get your facts strait before you insult and degrade a great kid who made some bad choices and has since passed away tragically.

  59. 58 this was written way before Atkins passed away. i actually toned it down after his death

Jai I gonna take a bow now as having shown you that list first!

As far as gators if it is moving hit it, if it is not moving spit on it.

  61. You know…

In the end this is just another list showing the superiority of the Gators…

    Sorry, Nole…

    You lose again…

  62. IMO, the Noles win the tarnished program with the academic scandal.

  63. Apparently you are to young to remember Charlie Pell, Eer…

    It ain’t even close…

Gators in a landslide when comparing who’s “been caught”…

  64. Hate the Gators Avatar
    Hate the Gators

there is no school in college today that is more hated by so many different schools.. than the gators.

Everyone hates them! Not because of jealousy, no but because of their actions.

I defy you to show any other school that is more hated.

  65. Are people actually saying that cheating on online tests is worse then actual crimes and batteries and rapes?

LOL man people are funny sometimes

  70. Tennesee is GARBAGE and regardless of how many UF players get arrested and kicked off the team…Tennessee WON’T beat the Gators and will NOT win another Championship under Fat Boy Fulmer. So…….whatever kind of recruiting they are doing…ISN’T WORKING.

    GO GATORS

  71. How anyone from ANY college football program can come on a board and try and claim moral superiority is supsect, but Gators trying to do it is downright laughable.

    What a bunch of hypocrites!

    PS: How’s Tank Black doing?

PPS: Did Jarvis Moss ever pay that coach back for fronting him on his child support?

  73. I don’t think the “legal problems” faced by UF are any different than any other “High Profile” Div. 1 school. In order to be competitive, they are all forced to recruit inner-city Black athletes who traditionally are not prepared to deal with the complexities of the White Legal System. In most cases the real fault can be placed at the feet of a system that exploits the natural physical ability of young Black men but doesn’t give them the structure and guidance they need to behave in a Socially Acceptable manner.

  74. […] year we ranked the best of the best of the America’s Dong Gator Criminals [Gates Ballin’].  This is ranking the thugs of Herban’s era.  Only the top 5 thugs, there are more,  only […]

  75. I lived in Gainesville for 18 years and although I was lucky enough to stay out of trouble, I can attest that the UPD and GPD will arrest and fabricate anything on anyone anytime… just saying. There is a HUGE credibility issue lacking with the petty overzealous law enforcement in that area – especially if you are black &/or an athlete. There is a huge emphasis on academics and proper behavior and the tolerance is even shorter now than it was only a couple years ago… nobody wants to be viewed like “Duh You” of Miami or the FreeShoesUniv Criminals … UT sure had a bad reaction to their stint of bad behaving players but I hope everyone does see UT, UF and most SEC schools as a cut above the average in both talent and historically good guys produced. No doubt we both wish we could slap the piss outta some of these knuckleheads… don’t judge or project beyond it.

  76. Bruindog…. UF is the new Thug U.

There has been a lot going on since you wrote that one Jai. I know this thing is hard to keep up with but I try.

    2008 updates:
Well the race for the Fulmer Cup 2008 is well underway. Torrey Davis started the ball rolling with public intoxication, yes he is drinking again. Credit card gator Jamar Hornsby has vaulted UF back into the top ten by using the credit card of a dead woman who was killed in a motorcycle accident along with his former teamate. How is that for the top 1% of the top 1%?

Gator Matt Patchan shot in the back at a park late at night. No details yet on how it exactly happened. It is interesting a guy was shot in the back and nobody seems to know anything about it and herban is not making a statement. Our investigators are on the job and will get to the bottom of it as soon as possible. Was he shot in the back rounding the outhouse door? Inquiring minds want to know.

Maurice Pouncey friend of Chris “it is good to be Chris Rainey” Rainey finds out it is not so good to be Maurice Pouncey found swilling some nasty Bud Light in his car in Gainesville. They really should pay these gators enough so they don’t have to drink cancerous sugar water. Get them some good import beer.

Teddy Dupay who left gator basketball due to gambling on sports made the news as he choked and beat his girlfriend in a Colorado Ski resort.

We are getting ready for fall now look for more breaking news. The boys are back in town

This week is different. We just got a whole lotta stuff to get to here; our sporting men and women have been busy. Let’s start with the fun one, for it is always fun for us up in New England Patriots territory when a Miami Dolphin faces justice. This past week, linebacker Channing Crowder got himself cited for careless driving and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage (the latter a second-degree misdemeanor) in Hollywood, Florida, after he crashed his pickup truck in the early morning hours and then took off, leaving his car at the scene. It was a shades-of-Jerramy-Stevens sort of moment, except that Crowder crashed into a tree, not an old folks’ home. Cops recovered his possessions — including a firearm — from the truck, but it was too late at that point to test for drugs or alcohol.

August 4, 2008 Former Florida Gators football star John Reaves, who was arrested last Wednesday in connection with a gun threat, has now also been charge with cocaine possession. This is the quarterback involved in the famous Miami flop which allowed him the gator all time passing record.

Since the advent of record keeping for criminality in sports began the gators now rank #2 for criminal acts in sports. They came in at #3 last year and after a slow start this year have once again proven they won’t stay down forever.

    Breaking Ronnie is back.

Seminoles 2008 Prepare For The Terminator

Ronnie Wilson now on hold for the FSU, Alabama and bowl games. Herban Meyer is still refusing to comment on whether or not Ronnie “The Rifleman” Wilson is still part of the team.

Most of us are familiar with the fact that the Rifleman back in April 2007 slapped and spit in the face of one Frank Fuller, a Santa Fe Community College student at the XS night club according to Gainesville Police. Wilson then fled the scene.

Fuller followed Wilson with his cellphone and called the police. When the Rifleman pulled into a parking lot, he exited the vehicle pulled out an AK-47 assault rifle and fired off a round into the air. The Rifleman later explained he wanted Fuller “to know how it felt to be scared.”

Unfortunately bullets of this type can fall from the air and kill people in a city. Wilson was charged with use or display of a concealed weapon during a felony, aggravated assault and simple battery.

Now here is where the fun begins the state attorney’s office reduced the charges to one count of battery and discharging a firearm in public which surprise were both misdemeanors.

Naturally the Rifleman pled no contest to the discharging of a firearm and battery with two years of court supervision and agreed to 100 hours of community service, the forteiting of his assault rifle and undergoing a mental health evaluation.

Well in January of 2008 Wilson was arrested again and charged with possession of marijuana after running a stop sign with 6 grams.

This should have been a violation of his probabtion but enter state attorney “Wild Bill Cervone” once again who failed to notice the rifleman was on probation. What a lucky guy! The charges were swept under the rug and dismissed citing how hard it is to prove possession.

Well it is football 2008 in Gainesville and Herban has welcomed his boy back to the team. Forget the fighting, spitting, slapping, guns and mayhem.

It wasn’t over however as after the Arkansas game back in Gainesville during a party at 3:30 in the morning at the Lexington Crossing Apts, the Rifleman became concerned over a woman. The rifleman hit a man and followed him outside and was in the process of throwing another punch when a woman stepped in the way and proceed to have her wrist broken by the punch. Wilson was after a third victim who offered assistance as we run out of facts on the story line.

As of now Herban has no comment on whether or not Ronnie is on the team. His only comments are no discussion. Ronnie was held out of the Vandy game but we know he will be ready for FSU, Alabama and the bowl games.

The rifleman is like a terminator, no man, no woman, no party and no law can stop him. He is here to do a job and we know what is. Seminoles get ready for the rifleman.

Jacques Rickerson was arrested in Gainesville for choking his girlfriend and putting a pillow case over her head, luckily the neighbors heard her screaming. He is “said to be leaving the team.”

Cam Newtown November 21, 2008. Backup quarterback Cam Newton arrested for stealing a $1700 computer from a fellow student.
A thought regarding the computer would be Cam’s proficiency in regards to computer programming and hacking ability. Secondly was he an intimate friend of gator basketball player Nick Calathes who has caused a stir by running up $600 in computer gambling debts.

Was Cam trying to erase Nick’s tracks or simply going on line to win back the money for a buddy.
Cam maybe more of a good sararitan in this than we think, although threatening a witness would certainly take some of the lustre off.

But then again who knows maybe Cam just needs a computer. You don’t want him at quarterback anyway because when he threw the laptop out of the window he missed the dumpster and the computer was found laying beside it.

In the paper today Bianchi mentioned that Billy Donovan stated the Calathes caper was not even a story and Bianchi said yes it is as Teddy Dupay, the same Teddy Dupay that busted up his girlfriend in a Colorado Ski resort was outed for gamblin on games at UF.

Of course Bianchi could not write this article without one final shot at UCF on the Plancher incident and FSU, first indicating that various teams have songs on their ipods. He mentioned UCF for David Soul’s (Don’t give up on us baby) as O’Leary told the Sentinel where to put the microphone and FSU for (Kung Fu Fighting).

    Update Special:

    blogs.orlandosentinel.com/spor…l-arrested.html

UF offensive lineman Carl Johnson was arrested on Feb 16, 2009 for violating a sexual sexual violence restraining order. Apparently Johnson followed the campus bus the woman was riding on.

It took the Orlando Sentinel to dig up information on what is happening in Gainesville as apparently their local papers don’t get involved in such matters. There was no information on the nature of the orginal sexual violence incident in the police report.

The paper did mention this is the football team’s third arrest since November. Cornerback Jacques Rickerson was kicked off the team for domestic battery. Quarterback Cam Newton, who has transferred, allegedly stole a student’s laptop and threw it out of his dorm window upon police suspicion.

Team spokes persons indicated that Herban Meyer was out of the country and had no comment. Out of the country? Some of those Kenyon running backs are like greased lightning I hear.

GAINESVILLE — Charges involving an alleged violation of an injunction against Florida football player Carl Johnson were dismissed today because of what State Attorney Bill Cervone called, “insufficient evidence.”
Cervone added that the on-going injunction against Johnson not to have contact with an ex-girlfriend and the Student Judicial Affairs process has “addressed the matter sufficiently.”

A woman who claimed Florida offensive lineman Carl Johnson raped her three times has also indicated she will not pursue rape allegations, which could clear Johnson’s path to play football next fall.
