John, John, John…
You done blow’d up the Orange Nation with your truth-telling opus. Legions of Philbillies have taken to the internets to slam your column. The comments section alone is a proofreader’s wet dream.
That’s just sad, really.
John had several great points and articulated them well. Whilst the FOPs (Friends of Phil) crow ad infinitum about his winning percentage and status amongst the nation’s all-time elite coaches, he’s also entered a new coaching pantheon. A place whose charter members include Barry Switzer, Butch Davis, Tom Osborne, Jimmy Johnson, Bobby Collins of SMU and most any Bammeroid coach that comes to mind…
Congrats, Phil, you are now a member of The Coaches Who’ve Lost Institutional Control Hall of Fame. You get a replica of Onterrio Smith’s white Whizzinator, bronzed for posterity for your tireless lack of effort.
For a man who always talks about molding young men to be great football players and even better citizens, Fulmer ain’t cutting it. It’s time for him to step up and take responsibility, especially since Trooper, Cutcliffe and Gerald “El Grande Headphone Cord Wrangler” Harrison aren’t there to cover his ass. Actually, that’s what Rochester Big and Tall’s for (keep fighting the good fight, Rochester!).
(Hat-tip to westcoastvol over at outermonvolia.com for the super-cool poster up top. Here’s to dying with your boots on.)
