With the game well in hand versus Miami, Herb continues to build his legacy by trying FG with 42 seconds remaining? What if Tebow of Nazareth or Percy had been injured? Percy really makes the Gates go, by the way. Totally different offense when he is on the field.

Did anyone see Shannon’s face when he shook Meyers hand you could tell he wanted to kick his ass, I wished he would’ve, that would had made my night.

College football is a beauty pageant. Style points, margin of victory, etc all count. Everyone remembers that the Gates beat out Michigan by the slimmest margins two years ago for the chance to plow tOSU’s beanfield in the BCS NC. Either way, it will catch up with him, running up the score that is. When Herb gets his payback, I plan on video-taping my Schadenfreudegasm and posting it on this blog. Does payback bother Herb? One only has to look at the UGA game, or the Michigan game (players under the bus) to see. After saying that, I really wished Fulmer could get a mean streak like that…..

Ah yes, I have another theory:

It is funny (as in coincidence funny) that Florida kicks that field goal and covers the spread? Makes you wonder if Herban or someone he knows is putting money on the game. I would like to know his record versus spreads and late unnecessary scores to cover spreads. Make you wonder.

    Yeah I think I noticed Randy look at Patrick right after the kick and mouth “thats bull sh*t”. That kinda stuff comes back around to ya boys dont worry. Hopefully Miami will be able to return the favor in a few years.

    James’ punt return put the Gators in field goal range to begin with. If Florida kneeled it, Miami would still get the ball back. If you’re gonna give it back to them, you might as well get some points out of it first.

    Besides, it was a good chance for the kicker to get some reps before we start playing against the big boys like UCLA, I mean, Tennessee.

    Maybe Neuheisal bet on the spread.

    So what? Coaches do it all the time. They don’t want the high roller alumni grumbling that they didn’t cover when they could have. Look at the record and see how many times The Bear (Organ crescendo) did it. I think Meyer, is too smart to bet on a game through someone else, although I am sure he has no problem in receiving a “love offering” from an individual after covering a close one.

    I believe that he was focused on style points. I would have pulled Tebow out of the game. Herb has to be cognizant of the fact the The Bow is his meal ticket.

    For one, UF had not attempted a FG kick yet this year. If it was your team, would you really want to start SEC play, on the road, in front of 107,000 people with an inexperienced Kicker who has yet to even attempt a FG in a game yet this year? Didn’t think so.

    Along with that, this isn’t “running up the score”. If they wanted to run up the score they would have got it in the endzone for 6. But that’s not what they were trying to do. As Jim Bob points out, they had the field position and were already in FG range due to James’ punt return.

    On the other hand, no matter which team you root for, you should want your Coach to never let up and “take it easy” in a rivalry game. Part of me wishes that the Gators would have gotten into the endzone instead of playing it safe at the end. Why? Because Miami is a rival – a rival that UF hadn’t beaten in 23 years. I hate Miami.

    Now, for Randy Shannon to get upset about this and consider it “classless” is downright ridiculous. He has been around Da U for over 20 years. They epitomize classless. Hell, it wasn’t even 2 years ago when Da U got in that brawl with FIU. And he was on the sidelines as D-Coor.! Those were his players! He needs to STFU.

    I will definitely be watching that game, Jai.

    I know some Gator fans think I’m crazy, but I think the UF-UT game is a toss-up. Especially if the Gators played the way they did Saturday night.

    Side note from this past weekend:
    Anyone who claims that Gator Fans wear jean shorts obviously hasn’t been around Miami fans. Good Lord! From the thugged-out-baggy-as-hell jorts, to the Old Man from Everglades City jorts, they’ve got every variation of jorts covered.

    How is that putting them in harms way?

    I saw that loud mouth fag over at AllCanes having an argument with one of his own earlier about this shit. He claimed that if UF had kneeled on the ball that Coral Gables would have done the same.

    I believe that about as much as I believe that Phat Fulmer hates donuts. Shannon would have had his RS freshman swing for the fences undoubtedly.

    I agree with Jai and i couldn’t give a shit about Miami. Herban could have just run out the clock by pounding it–if the back (Moore or whomever) scores a td, then that’s on the Miami d for not stopping it.

    but no, under 2 minutes left in the game, Fla up by 20 and Tebow is still in there throwing the ball– including one incompletion (stopping the clock) and herban decides to pile on an add 3.

    this is the type of thing that comes back and bites, since karma’s a bitch.

    Running up the score? Worked well for Spurrier back in the 90’s. If it caught up with him, then I’m glad it did while he’s wearing garnet and black, not orange and blue.

    If Miami didn’t want Florida to score, then they shouldn’t have kicked the ball to James.

    Didn’t you guys at least like the crowd chanting “S-E-C, S-E-C” at the end???

    That TD pass Sexy Rexy made in the rain right before the half one of the best throws I’d ever seen.

    Like Jim Bob said at 13, I wish you all would see it as an SEC team beating an ACC team – Da U at that – and just be happy for the conference.

    Also, as I mentioned earlier, it was a rivalry game. As far as I’m concerned, in a rivalry game, “Gentlemen’s Rules” don’t apply.

    So we have gotten to the point where we bitch about a FG running up the score? Sounds a little soft to me Maybe Shannon should change the U’s colors to mint green and peach. Or mint green and UT orange…that is close to peach.

    @ 19 – Funny thing was UT folks were particularly nasty that year…

    The clown two rows behind me was celebrating as they came down the field on their first drive giving gator fans all the shit talk he could muster and even saying how much better “3 points is than a big goose egg” as UT was prepping to attempt their field goal…

    I had kept my mouth shut up to that point…

    But when we blocked that field goal attempt; it was on and he received a “How you like that goose egg, motherf*cker?” from the Hippy as I was high fiving all the Gates around me…

    Surprisingly not too long after that he was nowhwere to be found…

    And by the end of the second quarter the 107,000 had turned into about 40,000 with a third easily visiting Gators…

    Sad and funny at the same time…
