College GameDay is coming to Knoxville for Tennessee–Texas.
You’re welcome. Sign up for the newsletter. We do this all the time.
LWS spent last week telling everybody exactly where this was headed while the board was busy hating ESPN, looking past Kennesaw and beginning its annual preparations for emotional catastrophe.
First came “College GameDay May Be Coming to Knoxville. The Board Still Hates ESPN Anyway.”
Then, one day later, we got more specific: “If Peyton is the GameDay Picker… Kennesaw and Looking Ahead to Texas Too Soon.”
We didn’t merely predict GameDay.
We identified the coming mental crisis.
Peyton Manning.
Now GameDay is “officially” coming, Arch Manning is coming, and the board has an entire week to contemplate the possibility that ESPN puts Peyton behind that desk and asks him to choose between Tennessee and his nephew.
Neyland Stadium behind him. Orange everywhere. A hundred thousand people waiting for the obvious answer.
And that motherfucker picks Texas.
It hasn’t happened. Peyton hasn’t even been announced as the guest picker.
Doesn’t matter.
The board has already experienced the betrayal.
And LWS, unfortunately, has the receipts.
