Somebody dropped a photograph of Arch Manning onto the Tennessee board. He was grinning in a suit, pointing at the crowd, and sporting a silver nose ring. The ring looked plainly Photoshopped or AI-generated. That did not settle anything.
Grown middle-aged men with Triscuit crumbs on their shirts and all-you-can-eat buffet plans for lunch spent the morning enlarging Arch Manning’s nostrils. They compared shadows, studied the hoop and argued for pages over whether the photograph was doctored. The image survived a longer review than some Tennessee defensive coordinators.

Then Matt4RockyTop dragged the thread into politics. The tiny hoop acquired an entire imaginary life: anti-ICE protests, Mexican flags, multicolored hair and, inevitably, a girl in Austin. None of it was in the picture. Matt had moved past the picture.
Arch has shown he can play a great quarter of football. Tennessee would like him to spend all four today trying to remember how. The board thinks Moscow on the Colorado may have already done half the work.
The imagined replies wrote themselves.
Hopes03: “Peyton would’ve made him take that thing out before the family photo.”
JasonVols22: “Is the ring gonna effect his progresions or is that just a visable issue?”
George Cafego: “Son, that ain’t a jewelry decision. That’s a woman decision.”
There it was. Men have lost kingdoms chasing women. They’ve started wars, wrecked careers and stood in front of cameras trying to explain choices they couldn’t explain to themselves. The board decided Arch followed a girl into Austin. She liked the ring, he liked her, and before long he was listening to her views on the redistribution of touchdowns equity.
Kaepernick was the cautionary tale, according to the board. Arch is the sequel with a more famous last name. The nose ring is his scar, his crown of thorns, and apparently the only evidence the thread needed.
After someone reported Matt’s political tantrum, Board owner, Brent Hubbs finally nuked thee thread. The photograph and thread were gone. Tennessee still hopes the girl texts Arch just before kickoff.
